remote key ignition lock
« on: May 02, 2011, 05:08:21 PM »

Took my ride in for service and told them my remote locks the bags but not the ignition anymore. This is 2010.5 blk ultra . the dumb service writer said it did not come with that option. And i told him it did and use to work . Any help would be helpful

It's in the sales literature. Tell them to look at yours and look at an ignition on any other Electra Guide and they will see yours is quite a bit taller. Mine works fine, sorry to hear about yours. It's also listed in the parts catalog 99428-10A page 140.

Sorry, am I missing something here? I don't get it at all.  Is this an ignition thing or are you also talking about some remote Fork lock I have not seen?.  :nixweiss:

On Ignition, surely this is not some INTERNATIONAL VERSION THING?  My standard CVO key Fob on my 2011 SESG, works just like my last standard Ultra, and it is a proximity thing.  I am assuming this is nothing special and you Guys all have it in America, surely this is not just the "International Version"?....  Anyway, I have to have that fob with me and it automatically arms the alarm and shuts off the ignition if that fob is more than about 3 metres away...  It is the same as I remember my standard Ultra..

So how is this different with the auto locking boxes feature?  Sorry, but my Big Blue does not get here until July, and I really think I am missing something here.  Is this a manual arming of the ignition shut off with the box lock, instead of my automatic proximity alarm and ignitions shut of now...?

Maybe I am just dumb, but I don't get it... Thanks for your answer in advance..

Cowboy, he isn't talking about the regular security system with the proximity fobs.  What he's talking about is what is called keyless entry in the automotive business.  Press the fob button, and it unlocks the bags or ignition/fork lock.  Or I assume that's what he's talking about anyway.

Wow Jerry,

I really HOPE mine comes with that... It would really be cool to have an automatic Fork Lock.  I have not seen one, and my 2011 Street Glide certainly does not have it...  Thanks for the answer, I will just have to wait and see if mine comes with that feature.

So I guess you roll the forks over to the left and turn the ignition switch to the far left, but then there is not key thing you just push the button on the Fob?

WOWEE!!!!   :bananarock: :bananarock:That would be worth getting the CVO Ultra on it own.  Key fumbles in the dark are a pain, Boxes and all... VERY COOL.... :2vrolijk_21:

Exactly...not surprisingly, my dealer did not even know it did that until I showed him.   :2vrolijk_21:  I should have given him the "walk through" on the bike, as I knew more about it than he did.
