Klock Werks and FLTRUSE
« on: May 03, 2011, 09:30:20 AM »

Hello All

I recently got my FLTRUSE, so far I love the ride, but the wind is a bit much.  I am 5'11" and the stock CVO windshield produces more wind that I care for.  Klock Werks has been recommended.  My question is, which would work best, 8", 12" or 16".  I would prefer to go with the 12".  Any feedback on your experiences with these shields would be apprciated.

Thanks

Ultra, I also have a FLTRUSE, several of my buds also ride FLTR's. I had to go with the 19" HD windshield to get out of the wind. I'm 6' and the buffeting was unacceptable. I tried the 12" KW and it's now on my buddy's FLTR ( he likes the breeze). I can't speak for the 16".

Hmmmmm, not digging the looks of it.  Also, if it allows ("scoops") the air behind the windshield, will it not do the same with rain?   :confused5:

I was wondering the same thing. The stock shield's performance has been ok, but it hits me about chin level. Wind doesn't bother me usually, but the BSR is getting blasted. I'm leaning toward one of the brands, we will see.

Thanks Guys.  I'm very interested in hearing all opinions.  At least so far I can rule out the 12" KW.

Keep it coming.

Just my $.02, but I installed the Cee Bailey's 15" on my FLTRUSE and so far after just under 2K miles, I love it.
I'm 6'0" tall and could not tolerate the stock H-D windshield because it produced too much wind right at chin level.
I have riden in cold (33 deg.), rain, windy (up to 45mph), and clear conditions and I am very well pleased with its performance. My BSP also likes it as she statedshe noticed a difference in the wind she was getting as well. I went on recommendations from others on this site on another thread, and do not regret the decision.

Good luck and smart choice to collect information instead of windshields.

 :) :) :)

Three thousand miles on a Cee Bailey's 15".  Great shield.  Moves the air around the rider with the splitter effect and a bit a re-curve to push the air up and over the rider.

I'm 6'1" with a 34 inseam.

Quiet and stable.  The most expensive shield and takes two weeks to get it, but it is the best shield for me.  The KW was noisy and did not block the wind as well as the Cee Bailey's.

One other point the Cee Bailey's did drive a light rain up and over me.

Well worth the $250 plus.

Can I offer some info?  Most of you know this but just in case...   I see a lot of questions on the SERGU boards that have been discussed in the SERG board.  The bikes are similar enough that many of the same issues apply.  The '09 SERG came with a "Wind deflector"  that was a joke!  It only "deflected" wind into the riders face.  The reason that's relevant here is that the SERG riders posted repeatedly on what windshield would work best.   I went through the KW 12" (cool but no function and poor quality),  Clearview GT small (function and quality but no cool) and wound up with the Cee Bailey's.  Best look, function and quality, IMHO.   BTW, I'm 5'11" with an average torso length.

Pic of the Clearview GT small.

Pics of the Cee Bailey's 14" Dark Smoke.

Hope this helps!

Greg is correct but it's an individual choice/preference...just like seats and handlebars.  Most of us have multiple of each in our garage.  I finally went with the Kuryakyn...it comes waaaay back towards your face.  You'll notice it you put your face/chin close to whatever windshield you have the air disappears!

The Kury finally did it for me...and it looks cool!  But nothing is really "final" and as such, I'm intrigued and VERY interested in the performance claims of this new MadStad windshield.

Post a report and PICTURES as soon as you can.

After a 16" KW, which IMHO was the worst windshield I have ever owned, I went with a Cee Bailey and really like the way it performs. Works especially well with the new deflectors.
