Just changing out the stock muffs or stock baffles with or without the cats over to something free-flowing will reduce heat significantly. The way the stockers are built, the exhaust gases only escape due to pressure build-up in the muff. After re-mapping and changing to the Fullsac X pipe and cores, I tried the stock muffs for the heck of it. Ran hot again, detonated, performance down....etc.
If I were worried about losing low end by going with true duals, I would install a set of Bassani Power curve true duals. No loss on the bottom. Conflicting reports on flow. Steve at Fullsac(whom I have the utmost respect for) said something to the effect of: Why take such a good idea, then tie it in a knot. But if you look at the bends and bend radius's, they are gentle and well thought out. Certainly no worse than the bend the front pipe takes directly out of the head flange. I have run several sets of these and have em now on MY '07 RG. Love 'em.
Another option, that works well for those concerned about noise, is Supertrapp muffs with the disc system. Let's YOU change the sound and flow characteristics.
