Looking for good quality Microfiber cloths
« on: May 04, 2011, 09:34:17 PM »

To go with my new bike, it's time to step up to some good quality microfiber cloth's. I have been searching the web, but man it is confusing. Really would like to buy a pack of at least 12 good quality cloth's, edgeless would be great, and different colors. Maybe a new microfiber mitt and some applicator pads. recommendations????

Catch 'em on sale at Pep Boys!

Pep Boys has them in various qualities... The ones by Meguires are very good.  You might want to look online at Fruits Garage too.

Google Griot's Garage...everything in the world for the anal retentive car/bike owner.  If you can't find it there, you don't need it.

I've bought Microfibers from Autozone, Walmart, Glare...hard to tell a difference between them.  Griot's has GREAT Microfiber washing mitts though...best I've seen.

The Costco Microfiber cloths will scratch your paint. This guy has the best stuff I've found, it's a little pricey but well worth it...

I am waving the B.S. flag.  I am anal as anyone when it comes to keeping my bike clean and I have been through several packages of microfibers from Costco.  My bike has no scratches.

I deal with very very high quality paint jobs all the time and the hems on the Costco Microfibers will leave very fine scratches, no B.S.   Talk with any high end detailer and they will tell you the same.

I think if I talk to any high end detailer they will tell me not to use the hemmed edges of any microfiber.

I would agree it is possible to scratch with the costco microfiber if you did not rip the tag off or you used the hemmed edge as a scrubber but I would think common sense does apply.
My experience has been great.  No scratches.  But I admit I don't use the hemmed edge.
