TTS question tuning question
« on: May 05, 2011, 08:23:52 AM »

I have read that you turn off power enrichment, deceleration enrichment, and warmup enrichment when doing Vtune runs.  On a lambda based MT8 file, how exactly do you turn those off?  Set them to zero?  Set them to .981? What does off mean?  The tuning manual only says change the PE mode to 10,000rpm.

Second, does a bigger number in the EGR table make that rpm leaner or fatter?  What does that number represent?

Thanks,
Richard

You want to set the lamba tables at 90 map & below to .981 when v-tuning. Set the PE to 10000 rpm, and leave accel & decel enleanment to original settings. When you are done v-tuning, make sure you set the Lambda back to original and PE to original.

Actually you need to zero out accel/decel.
you can leave your warmup enrichment on. Just let it get through its cycle before you start recording.
take pe to 10,000 rpms. This way it never goes into pe mode unless you hit 10,000 rpms.

I learn something new here everyday. However, upon reading the MT Tuning Guide, starting at p. 51, the "Detailed tuning procedure", as you read that and the pages that follow, it says nothing about setting the accel or decel enleanment to 0. But in the "Flow Chart" on p. 72, it says set the accel enleanment to 0, but says nothing about the decel enleanment.

You do not need to zero anything out for the system to work perfectly. When you twist the throttle the ECM gives you an accel shot of fuel and it continues to do so for a little while. So during this time the ECM ignores the O2 readings as it knows they are going to be wrong. Decel acts much the same but it removes fuel when active, again the ECM knows and ignores the O2 sensors during this time. With this in mind if you zero them out then the ECM will not ignore the O2's and may allow for quicker data collection to occur but you may also pickup a stumble in the bike from doing so.

So the answer is you can do it both ways and the end results will be the same once properly tuned. If your smooth on the throttle I find it doesn't help any at all but if you wiggle the throttle as many do it does helps.
