What's happening to the LEO standard?

What is happening with the law enforcement standard?  It's incredable here in the Sacramento area.

We just had a Sacramento county Sherriff convicted of having a CDC (Calif. prison) guard killed in his driveway.  Felonies

Recently a CHP officer was arrested at the end of his shift for being under the influence and possession of methampetamine and then a few weeks later for soliciting for the murder of the witness against him.  His tweeker girlfriend was also arrested.  All felonies.

Over the weekend a Capt. of the CHP was arrested and hospitialized for DUI that resulted in him wrecking his personal motorcycle that caused injuries.  Another felony.

Last night a CHP officer that has worked protective custody at the state capital (a guard or driver for the Governor) fro the past two years was arrested for burglery/shoplifting of a Playstation from Target store in Vacaville. Felonies.  And he had his son with him.

Have similar issues here in Oklahoma our sherriff washed out of State Trooper school then took him 2 tries to get thru cleet after he got elected. Most here know his past but he was still elected. Could be that they are just people also some good some bad. I can barely keep myself in line so maybe they have some of the same issues. Not defending just saying.

Even up here in Canada we have LEOs tazering kids, seniors, immigrants (4 times and he died), beating suspects while in custody and on film, getting drunk while off-duty and beating people, face kicking a co-operative suspect on film, various obstruction charges( so many people have phone cameras that more and more is getting 'documented'),impaired driving....and this is just the crap that them or their fellow officers cannot hide.

At least a portion of this agressive behavior, I believe is due to steroid use....have you notice that LEOs have gotten quite HUGE!

Who knows?

Ask 10 people why and you'll get 11 different answers:
- This has always happened but thanks to internet we're hearing about it more
- This has always happened but thanks to camera phones, it's getting reported more
- Failing "good ole boy" network amongst LEOs - fewer cover-ups = more arrests/charges
- Society itself is lowering its collective moral standard therefore easier for these people to justify their illegal actions prior to conducting them
- Society is increasing its collective moral standard therefore these actions are no longer tolerated at any level
and it goes on and on and on ad nauseum...

Again, who knows?

As Dayne said there's lots of discussion in Canada on the same issue. Leos up here are losing much credibility because of all the crap going on . They target bikers(Because they are all criminals you know) , legit gun owners (because only LE needs guns you know) and have forgotten the serve and protect part.  Sad part is they think that everything is just peachy. :confused5:

ashamed to tell this one. a judge in knoxville tn was convicted on drug charges. did i say i do not actually live in knoxville just listed it a location people could relate to :nixweiss:

I think Alabama has you beat, no pun intended.  It takes six LEO's to beat down an unconscious felon fleeing when he wrecks.  Not that the guy didn't deserve a butt kicking but this went a little to far.  All kicked off the job for I believe two years , file for  reinstatement win it with back pay
