Rinehart slip ons on 2007 CVO Road King
« on: May 12, 2011, 10:28:40 AM »

I'm so stoked, I got my Rinehart slip ons for the SERK yesterday.  They sounds awesome!!!  OMG!  Look fabulous (chrome tips)!   :pineapple:
However:  The heat shields didn't fit...
What is the best option?  To have something custom made or just leave them?  The bags are pretty close to the pipes and I worry about them getting too hot.
I have to ride today (only about an hour or so each way)...should I worry?
Thanks!!!

Oh, and I'm also looking to install extra lights in addition to the headlight, but don't want the commonly-attached blinkers or overly-large lights...suggestions?

Thanks you all--you have helped me so much!

You might want to look at Moto Lights. They mount low, on the brake caliper, so the light is concentrated where you want it to be, not shining up in the eyes of oncoming traffic or off in the trees. I have had them on previous rides and liked them a lot. They also increase your profile so it makes it easier to be seen, IMO.

Congrats on the new pipes. Post a pic for us...

I can't speak for the particular Rineharts you have, but the ones on my '06 SEUC (they were the complete true dual headers and mufflers) did not require heat shields.

I also recently installed the Rinehart 4" mufflers (chrome tips too), and I too found that the heatshield on the right side doesn't hug the inlet of the muffler- there is a gap. The left side is fine.

I tried to adjust the shield a bit, but ended up over tightening one of the strap clamps and put the dreaded dimple marks on the shield.

Not sure if there is much you can do about the gap, if that is the fitment problem you have.

Well, it seems that the heat shields aren't required...I rode all day Friday and Saturday with no issues (put another 700 miles on my bike).  I love the sound. Not too much, but still gets you heard.
Thanks for your input, friends :)

Glad they are everything you thought they would be.

I'm liking mine more and more- I like loud pipes more than most, and I find these a good volume....can't say I want them any louder, they are good the way they are.

Did you have to remap the computer or just slip them on?

With just slip ons, no re-map is needed. However, once you get rid of the cat in your headpipe, you will need a tuner to re-map/richen it up.
