Question for you Chevy gearheads
« on: May 13, 2011, 11:29:04 AM »

With the price of gas here in Canada I am wondering if a "Chip" tool would be a good investment for my 2002 Avalanche. It would be nice to change easily from economy back to stock when I want to. Any suggestion.

The handprogrammers don't do much. I run an automotive website, and 100's of my members, including myself have had custom tunes done by Blackbear Performance. Not only can he make a tune to make the vehicle run more efficiently and perform great, but he also removes most of the dreaded Torque Management which is what causes GM trucks to be so doggy off the line. After using a Hypertech, having a REAL tune made is a night and day difference.  He has scheduled meets all around the country, or will ship you a PCM with a custom spec'd tune for you. I took the mail order tune and 4 years later, I'm still thrilled with it.

Here's a link:  http://www.blackbearperformance.com  Check it out.  Tell Justin that Scott sent you and he'll take care of you.

mrmagloo,

I pulled up the link, didn't find performance details.  Since you are familiar, what could I expect with this installed in my 2011 Denali?  Please advise.  Later--HUBBARD

Hey Hubbard,

I got your PM too.  I cannot tell you the specifics on what can be done with each vehicle out there, but Justin is great to deal with. I'll PM you his personal email and he will get back to you asap!

E-mailed me back said due to a week-end tuning trip,  office support would be limited.  E-mail will be answered in the order it was received.  Thanks, magloo.  Hope this guy can help me put some ummph in my Denali.  This new one don't run anything like the '07 I had.  I put the K&N Intake system on both of them, but this one seems weak.  :nixweiss: Later--HUBBARD

I talked to his wife, who God bless her heart, is every bit the gearhead he is, and her old Z71 Tahoe had a blower, cams, heads, the whole nine yards. When I asked her about your Denali, she said she now had a 2010 and it made no difference if it had 2wd or 4wd, and they could definitely help you. I kiddingly asked if she had a BDS sticking through the hood on the new Denali, she said no, but the kit is in the garage!  I'm sure it's a Magnacharger, but you gotta love a lady driving a blown SUV as the kiddie taxi !!
