2011 cvo fullsac baffle install
« on: May 13, 2011, 06:33:24 PM »

I just received my 2" fullsac baffles and have read the threads dating back to 2009 did they make it any easier to install them in a 2011 or do I have some grinding in my future?

I just did my baffles Tuesday night on my 2011 and yes you do have grinding in your future. The spot welds were not as large in reality as they appeared in the pics. Just go slow and you won't have any problem.

I use the small Dremel cut off wheel but make sure you don't go too far. Also, when you slide the Fullsac baffles in, make sure it "seats" with the muffler before you press it in, otherwise it can get caught up on the lip and not go in the proper depth and you'll damage the baffle trying to pound it in.

Install went smooth, the grinding was nerve racking but went very smooth, the pipes sound gret although I am wondering if you remove all the insulation from the pipe as well as I left it in and they aren't relly Reinhardt loud...

Good job Apehanger! Packing is optional. If you like loud, pull it out.

Even if you pull the packing out, they still aren't very loud.

That's good to know.. I had Rineharts on my 06' CUSE and it was a bit loud for some of the towns on SoCal. I'm hoping for a touch louder than H-D 49 State S.E. Slip-ons. The question is.. Do I pack them or not???

I know it's kind of late in the game for the baffle replacement, but one thing that has worked for me on a couple I've done is this.

When you have the welds ground away to what you consider done, I take a dead blow hammer and tap the stock baffle into the muffler just an 1/8" or so.  This lets the weld break loose a lot easier than trying to twist or pull it to break that last little bit loose.

Once the stock baffle is tapped inward, this also gives you just a little room to "clean" up the lip of the weld where it used to connect to the baffle pipe.  Now when you clean up that area the baffle will slide right out without having to slide over the little edge left by the grinding.

This has done a good job for me.

Good luck to all and this is not that hard to do, so don't be scared off by the grinding etc.

I got D&D and they are louder than the Reinhearts ! ! I live in San Diego too. Maybe sometime we should meet and compare your Fullsac to the D&D. Wish mine were a little more quiet, but better than too quiet I guess.

I had the Rinehart TD pipes on my '06 too....Liked the sound and the look, but in hindsight they were just too loud after a long days run...my ears would be ringing, even wearing a FF helmet.  So, for me, the Fullsac 2" baffles, with the packing left in, are just right.  Loud enough when you crack the throttle, but just a nice deep tone when running 75mph down the highway for hours on end.  Plus, I don't want to give any cops an excuse to pull me over in some town I'm going through because of noise polution, which is becoming a real issue in some areas.  There is a happy medium.  WE are responsible for those laws being passed about loud pipes, so I'm trying not to contribute to giving them excuses to do so.
