Lowering a CVO ultra
« on: May 14, 2011, 09:26:39 PM »

A good friend is about to buy the
blue CVO. Hi chip. He is a bit vertically
challenged. His heels don't quite touch the
ground with the bike straight up. He is going
from heritage. Easily two inches higher.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks, scott

I stand 5'6', I installed progressives on mine and i am fine.  If he's shorter than me, than he should consider changing his seat or lowering the back end using brackets.  I had those on my road glide and they worked well.

I lowered my Ultra with Progressive Suspension and am very happy. New Mono Tubes in the front and 940's in the rear. The suspension change was a positive for handling, it decreased the front end dive when braking. I have also added a Reach Seat, that sets me down into the bike so that I get really good control of it. There is nothing worse than riding a big bike that you know you are having a hard time controlling, its just not safe. There are too many bad things that could happen that could be bad for him, the bike or someone else.

"Platform Boots" Sorry could not resist. Check out "Mean City Cycles" site they modify oem seats that lower the riding position and add comfort at a reasonable price. I have not used them yet but I am going to for the comfortant issues. Might be worth a try first.

Mean City Cycles will not work on an Hammock seat due to the lack of foam padding. I have already contacted them about doing something with my seat on my 2010 Ultra.

There are a number of options and combinations of options that will help him.

Air ride, Corbin Close Reach seats, lowering kits, shocks, etc.
