Memphis Shades Photo Shoot - '08 SERK
« on: May 15, 2011, 06:50:35 PM »

I happen to live about 10 miles from the home location for Memphis Shades.  Last year, when I was looking to put one of their fairings on my bike I ended up talking to them and they let me come over and test fit the setup before I actually ordered.  They had never validated the fit on this specific model ('08 SERK).  So... I did, we did, and I bought the kit a couple of days later.

At the time, I mentioned that if I bought it I would likely have Gene (Paint by Gene) paint it to match the rest of the bike.  They said that if I did, to let them know and they'd like to do a photo shoot.  I sent the fairing to Gene & Pam last winter and got in touch with Memphis Shades this spring to see if they were still interested and they were.

Everybody on this forum has likely seen hundredes of pictures of this bike model but because these were done in an actual photo booth and the quality of the shots is so good I just had to share a few of them.

Enjoy.

It fit without any issues using the stock detachable mounting points (other than the grommets which as I understand change)?  How is the wind protection, any buffetting?  I'm looking for a batwing for my '07 and since all I want is something for the highway then take it off once I get there this would work.

Just an awesome package, you and Black Diamond have set the bar awfully high for the rest of us.  I'm also interested in the wind buffeting protection that Gecko asked about.  I know this fairing topic has been covered many times but I like looking at every conversion put on the Forum.  I do suspect that like many others once I had it mounted it would stay on, but who knows.  I like my SERK but I don't love her, the annie colors just never did it for me.  I thought the colors would grow on me but it never happened.  Given the chance to sell her right I would.  I would prefer a little more protection from the elements and I'm really starting to think about the tunes I'm missing.

If you had to do the bags over would you consider the bag extension's like the ones on the 09's or would you stay with the size you have?  It looks great either way but I like the look of BD's bags as well.  When you guys purchased your SERK'S did you ever think you would take them as far as you have?

Super job, enjoy the ride.
