Road Tech Zumo 660 - Charge?
« on: May 22, 2011, 09:23:07 PM »

I have a 2011.5 FLHTCUSE6 that came with the Road Tech 660.  I can't seem to find a way to charge it except on the bike.  There is no USB connection on the outside without taking off the battery cover.  When you take the battery cover off to plug in the USB, the unit shuts down and it doesn't seem to charge from the A/C outlet.  Also, when I try to connect it to a computer to register / update; the software doesn't find it.  Anyone else out there have this problem?

I think the USB is under the battery cover to protect it from moisture.  Notice the rubber gasket around the battery cover.

When you attach it to the computer's USB port it goes into data transfer mode automatically.  After uploading routes you can use the Windows eject function while it is hooked up and it will exit data transfer mode and will be usable.

If you plug the AC charger into the USB port it should charge.

And it's gotta be the USB port under the battery cover.
Mine came with a car mount, which has a usb connector and the dc adapter connector on it.
I thought I could just connect the car mount and then charge it through the car mount's USB port.
Nope.
I'm not too sure what that port is for on the car mount but the unit sure won't charge through it.
