That thing looks great without the lowers. I have the same setup with the D&D. I may do mine too.

How much heat was removed by switching to the Fatcat?  I pulled them of the SERGU already.Once I remove the cat I'll try running the lowers again in the summer. Till then they come off in early spring and stay off till late fall. That things like riding an oven. Much better without the lowers.

Some of the heat issue was better with the fat cat, since no cat holding the heat, but the removal of the lowers also helped

Terry the dyno does not lie,my tuner told me to take off the lowers,I understand why now, also with the lowers on yellowed the back portion of heat sheild no such problem know with off.both sides of the speaker covers faded on out side of each plu the left tweeter grill.all six of my buddies faded on his,and another post on here from another member her's also faded.Think I'' take off the crash bars next to make it look better also

Might look better (individual opinion) but just glad I had the bars on when the cage pulled into me 14 days ago.. :'(..I have my right leg still attached as a result.  For what it's worth.  ;) spyder

X1  My brother is still walking on his own two legs because of the crash bar.  He was sideswiped by an 18-wheeler while riding his Road King and the left crash bar was bent back almost to the engine, but saved his leg.  Had he of taken off his crash bars there would have been nothing to protect his leg and he probably would have lost it.  Personally, I don't think the baggers look good without the crash bars, but that's just me.

Yep I agree with keeping the crash bar for the protection and look.  I am toying with the idea of leaving the lowers on the stock crash bar and removing the whole bar assembly then installing a mustache bar for the summer here in Florida, also am riding from Tampa area to Sturgis so Im not sure what to do.  I will ask my tuner his opinion about the heat/airflow when I get my Krypto tuned in June.

question, my buddy had heard there might be a problem with the radio when removing lower speakers. can you just unplug them and not cause any prob. with radio? thanks, he is looking at a new orange and black but doesn`t like the lowers at all.

A good compromise is to remove the adjustable vents.
Even when fully open they still block a lot of air flow.

You can remove and re-install the adjustable vents pretty easily once you get familiar with the mounting sytem.
I pulled mine out of my 2010 and really liked it.

Just one man's opinion .....

I removed my vents only from my 2010 Ultra and I got a weird wind noise - cross between a whistle and roar. I mention this because I threw mine away  :o and then had to but the vents and hardware again as I couldn't stand the noise on the super slab.

Yeah, maybe it's the air here or something. Just thought I would throw it out there.  :P
