Anyone had any luck with Harley about chrome falling off
« on: May 29, 2011, 09:45:53 AM »

On my 04 I know this is an ongoing problem. I have replaced the rear rim under warranty, front rim needs to be replaced, front floorboard do to. Last summer replaced the rider floor boards and just went to wash it and notice that this set is peeling and I am really getting piss about it. I am going to call customer care about it and give them hell about this.  :soapbox:

Has anyone else had any luck talking with head quarters.

Sadly, they obviously have enough people just like him that they don't feel a pressing need to improve the quality of the junk they sell or their responses to known problems.  Pawn off poor design and quality at very high prices, then spend the next couple years trying to avoid paying to fix the junk.  Seems to be a very successful business model for them so far, but I've got to believe they are going to eventually run out of suckers.  I don't think I'm the only one who has said "no thanks" to their recent offerings, btw.  The old saying still applies with some of us: "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me."

I suppose he could use the t-shirts to wipe the bugs off his Beemer. :nixweiss:

If more people would just say no to further abuse by Milwaukee, there would either be a major change in the way they do business, or they would be out of business.  I'd prefer to see them wake up and start doing things the right way, but I'm not exactly holding my breath waiting on the big event.

I had a front wheel replaced one time and I was told that since I live near the beach(about 15 miles) that it would not be covered.  I bought a new wheel and then got the original one rechromed.  It is still in my closet as a spare. I'll put it On next time when I need a tire.   The 04 chrome on most items really suck.    :nixweiss:

Hey Stu, do you remember what the cost of chroming that wheel was?  :nixweiss: spyder

Spy.  I had local guy do it for me for 350.00.  If I remember right, I think he pulled the bearings out of them.  The wheel looks better than a new one.  I'm sure it will hold up a whole lot better than HD's.  Looking forward to putting it on sometime.

Did the other one not need re-chroming?  I've found that the aftermarket chroming can look a lot better than the original if you get it done right.  spyder

No chrome issues on my 05. I may be the only one that got a good one. Just lucky I guess.

Did the '05's have the chrome issues like the '04's?  spyder

I just did the front wheel only.  My rear will is still good.  I find that amazing  also.  I'm sure I'll be fine when I make the switch.
