My first dyno tune. I am so excited and yet easily amused. After losing the son of a girlfriend's shop to the poor economy (or poor business practices) I ended up at a referral from Van Nuys Harley Davidison, in CA. The "service" rep gave me some bad advice, didn't tune the bike with a dyno, and dispensed experienced remarks like "you should wait until you have about 10,000 miles before taking it to this place...". It's install and guess at a map setting and off ya go at this dealer.
I ended up at a place where every guy in the shop is a wrench; trained and experienced in HD performance parts and installation. It was a fluke that I found them; the guy who referred me is the same service rep with the questionable advice. Go figure.
Anyway, I hope I can post the results properly. After the first baseline results, the tech at the new place who specializes in dyno tuning, pulled like 10 more horsepower and 12 + ft lbs. of torque with some tweaking in 15 minutes.
Next stop for the mod path is a 50MM Screamin' Eagle Throttle Body and a close loop computer module from Mentor. My ride is destined for 25-30 more horsepower in the next few months. Unless there is some other opinion about the upgrades I have chosen? I am listening and reading your input.
Oh, my ride is just beginning to open up a little. The power band seems broader, but the real test will be Saturday morning when I take it out for a real spin. I'll keep ya all informed on progress.
