2011 SESG with chopped tour pac???
« on: May 31, 2011, 09:40:34 PM »

I notice many owners of the 2011 SESG's putting on King Tour Pacs and they look great...

Just wondering if there are any with the chopped TP?

Does the MoCo only paint to match the Kings?

Pictures are worth a thousand words!

one more with the happy passenger waiting patiently for the operater to get aboard and haul ar$e out of town for a few days on the road.
I have afew more pics if you need to see more, I'm very happy with the look of the chopped pack. I am looking for a linner for it just to make packing a little easier and also lugging the contents from the bike to the end destination.

Grizzly, I think the reason that most of us went with the king is for function (storage space for touring).  Once we get where we're going, of course, it comes off and goes in the hotel room.

We happen to have both the king and the chopped......if we're riding two up, she prefers the king tour pack......it has upper back support.  My grandkids (teenagers) all prefer the king, also for the same reason.

Love the look of the chop tour pak. Would 2 ff helmets fit in them? Also is there something special about mounting the wrap around backrest on the pack?

Heres mine. Did it back in Dec. 2 half helmets will work but not even one full helmet will fit. As for the wrap around passenger backrest-------It's probably up to your other half-----does she want the armrests or not??? I personally think they look not quite so sporty but sometimes function has to win out over style.

I've had them both and to me the chopped makes no sense at all.  For what you will spend on a chopped you certainly can see that more is less. Why not be able to carry as much as you can when traveling and as JC said, you can remove it when you arrive at your destination.  The rear back rest is also much more comfy for your bsr.  Don't make the mistake I did.  Get the king,  you won't be sorry.  I was fortunate thet I found someone that wanted to trade even up for a chopped.   I never will be so lucky ever again.  :2vrolijk_21:

Grizz, The boys are right about one thing, the full size pac can sure fit more stuff but I looked at this way;more stuff equals more weight and more weight out over the rear axle including the BSR sure does change the handling capabilities of these great bikes and puts the rear suspension under a lot of stress. I have noticed however that a few of the guy's on this forum do a fair amount of their touring solo so then that enables the pac to be repositioned right behind the rider and in turn moves the weight bias forward. At the end of the day its your choice , good luck and i'm sure your SG will look great with either pac.

What did you guys do about the antenna? Did you have a system that allows you to disconnect the stock antenna and attach it to the pack, and then back to stock when your not using it? I have a all-in-one(cb,am,fm,wb) antenna so I need to use it whenever I ride.

Rut-rohh you might be alone in that situation.  Only one or two that's put a CB on a SESG.  I think most of us listen to XM only so we went with one of the hidden antennas up in the fairing.  Not much help today. :nixweiss:
