We would end our day here in Yosemite and head towards the hotel were Lou, Terry and Jimmy and the NC Krewe were already there!  We would enjoy our last meal together on this journey but I am confident it will not be our last meal together.

After the meal we sat around the pool and we reviewed options of roads back home.  Everyone had some ideas that they would review and I asked for some suggestions for myself.  There were many and all of them good but it was a matter of time and money and in this case projected weather.  I had some ideas when I went to bed but was not certain until I woke up.  It was clear then.

I really appreciate the journey add-on provided today and while it was not my first time here it was my most enjoyable one.  I would like to thank JC and Terrie for providing me and the others this experience and the others for joining us at the hotel and dinner.  I can not begin to express how much it means to me.  I look forward to many more opportunities.

Another legendary day and more to come I hope.

Captain’s Log | 06.18.2011

Well after reviewing everyone’s options regarding my journey back east and awaking at an hour that I thought was decent I began my journey.  I had been informed that Tioga Pass would be opening today at 8:00am so I decided to make the trip back to Yosemite and see if it were true.

Upon my trip back I would encounter this stop light with a detour which was caused by a rock slide.

Given the limited fuel supply in the park I decieded to fuel up now…aren’t you glad that you do not pay these prices?

The water is really flowing here all over.

Once in Yosemite I found Tigoa Pass Road and started up the hill.  It was all good and then I came across some vehicles parked and I did not know the reason.  So I decided to conduct the California stopped car advancement rule…Go to the head of the pack!  I was greeted with this stop!

It would appear that the 50+ cars I passed where faced with the same psotion!  However I was now in the pole position!

It was 7:20am so I thought that it must be true…perhaps an 8:00am opening.  There was a group of folks at the beginning of the gate and they made the comment…”I guess you must be on a motorcycle to cut the line!”  I let it go but then we had Mr. Big!  Now Mr Big had been braggin’ to the group about his time in all of his other homes throughout the country and world!  Mr. Big was first in line prior to me and needless to say pissed.

About 10 minutes passed and he said…”If this guy gets in my way I will just run in other!”  Well not having the most rest in my live I decided to react.  I calmly turned around and walked up to the group and said…”Just go ahead and do it now because I am confident based upon your driving standards I will be in your way.  That way I will have witnesses and while you are serving time in prison your wife can be enjoying those homes with her many boyfriends with your money.  I will be retunring to my bike now should you not want to waste any more time.”

Needless to say after that interaction the group returned to their vechicles and 5 minutes later they arrived.

The road is open and the ranger is conducting 10mph over the speed limit and I am fairly close.  Mr Big was not in my rear view mirror for quite some time.

When I deciede to pull over and use the other camera Mr. Big flys but hooking his horn and gives me Wrongway’s “Your #1” sign with his finger!  I thought about it and said…”Yes indeed you were!”

Utah!!! The big 5 National Parks in the southern part are great. See as many as your schedule allows. Also give a look at Utah Hwy 12 from Bryce to Grover. One spectacular road. If your schedule doesn't fit, ride thru Monument valley, Kayenta AZ to Bluff UT or the reverse whichever way you are travelling. If you are further north, run I-70 from Grand Junction CO to US 24 near Eagle Vail CO. Then run US24 to Colorado Springs. All great areas and easy riding. The I-70 is fantastic in the mountains, the two lanes/roads are stacked on top each other in parts.

Better yet, the first motorcycle...I remember going thru Tioga May 31, 2008 and Jock had more snow this year and almost a month later. I'll have to check it out on my way back east.
