Vance and Hines VO2 AC
« on: June 02, 2011, 12:42:30 PM »

Need some advice, I have the Ness Big Sucker on my bike and get the occasional oil out of the filter.  I am looking to change to the V02 as it seems to have a better way to route the breathers into the engine.  My question is can I change this with out having the bike dyno tuned again?  The bike has the V&H True Duals , Monster Ovals and the PC V.

As much as I hate to be disagreeable ( ??? ), that breather design on the V&H part is a huge step backward, not an improvement.  The Ness design with built in breather ports routed directly to the throat of the throttle body is far superior to those rubber hoses that will constantly drip oil onto the bottom of the filter element and eventually onto the side of your bike.

A better question might be why do you have excessive oil in the breathers to start with?

I appreciate your opinion but the V&H set up routes the breathers direct into the venturi, the Ness version like the SE has ports pointing out toward the air cleaner, and are on the side of the venturi.  The V&H routes the breather direct into the venturi.   I had a similar set up on and 06 Dyna and it worked.  I have had several Harleys, and all of them at some time would push oil through the air cleaner.  The same was true with the Dyna until installed the SE filter and replaced the K&N set up I had on the bike.  I would like to know how to eliminate the problem, but in three bikes and over 100,000 miles I can't find the answer.  I don't get excessive blow by, just enough to be irritating when I am on a long trip and make a hard run at high temperature, and when I stop, I will find oil spots on my rear pipe usually after 3000 miles or so since I cleaned it.  I am just trying to figure out if the V&H will flow as good as the  Ness.
