Seat question
« on: June 05, 2011, 01:47:58 AM »

bought the wife a 11 CVO StreetGlide and need some advice on a nice seat. She had a nice Corbin on her Duece put thought it was to hard for long hauls we are planning with the StreetGlide. I see some happy customer on this site with the C&C seats. She is about 5.5 and would like to lower her and move her up some. The Solo looks nice. Does C&C custom make a seat if you give them the height and reach of the driver? Also thinking about new bars not sure on that,, P.S her stock seat is nice it happened to end up on my 09 CVO RoadGlide, anyone want to quess why? Harley sent me my second seat because of the gap problem the so called revised seat has a worse gap than the original. I took a picture and sent it to customer service they said that is the best they can do and no plan to come up with another revised seat,

I have a mustang seat on my SERK, Used it for 3 or 4 years, very comfortable, A year ago i put the lowered seat from Harley, which also puts you closer to bars, Wasn't sure how comfortable it would be over the Mustang but i have taken it off since. Might be worth looking at.  :nixweiss:

I just purchased a 2up seat from C&C for my 2010 FLHXSE and it is about an inch or so lower and about the same position foreward.  They have options to move the seat closer and further back but do not offer options to lower it any further.  I am 5'8" 30" inseam and can almost flat foot with this seat.  I am happy with the style and comfort.

She had a nice Corbin on her Duece put thought it was to hard for long hauls we are planning with the StreetGlide.

Odd thing about a Corbin ..... first one I ever bought was right before a 900 mile trip. Sat on it and thought ... "Boy was THAT a mistake. This seat is WAAAY too hard!". However, I did about 200 miles before the trip, then did about 10 - 11hrs per day on it. My hind-end never once got fatigued - I loved that seat. Dunno if things with Corbin have changed but I certainly wouldn't rule them out as a distance seat (of course, my opinion only).

P.S her stock seat is nice it happened to end up on my 09 CVO RoadGlide, anyone want to quess why? Odd - I haven't heard of a gap issue on the '11. As far as I know only the 2010 was subject to the gap issue and the subsequent "fix kit/replacement seat" from HD. My 2011 seems fine from a gap issue - is this another occurrence of seat issues for MY2011?

Sililar to my experience.  I had six seats hanging in my garage.....several were comfortable for two or three hours, but none were comfortable for all day.  I was getting ready to do the ocean to ocean ride and had big concerns about this.  Van (Vanamal) PMd me and said that he had a Corbin but that it set him back to far.  He sent it to me, told me to try it and if I liked it, we'd talk about it.

I was 2/3 the way back across the country when I realized that as firm is that seat is, I didn't have any butt issues (monkey butt.....all distance riders knows what it is).  That seat was still on my SEEG the day I sold it and I sold all the seats hanging in my garage. :2vrolijk_21:

The wife and I both have the Corbin Classic Solo (she has the close reach seat and 40k miles on it!) and wouldn't consider anything else. :2vrolijk_21:
