Chrome peeling ?
« on: June 08, 2011, 01:30:51 PM »

Anyone else having problems with the chrome peeling on the heel/toe shift levers, and rear brake pedal? I have a 09&11 CVO SERG. Chrome is falling off both!

No problem with the levers or brake pedal yet. But I have changed the timer cover, mirrors, and wheels on my 09 SERG due to the same issue.

My brake lever pitted away.  I bought a new one and that pitted away also.   Then I came up with a brainy idea.   Have my original one rechromed.   They guy did a great job for ninety bucks and it's been fine ever since.   About 21/2 years now.    So now I have a pitted spare  :2vrolijk_21:

I thought I read a post here about that happening...but they may have lived in Florida and not sure if it is that year and model CVO.  :nixweiss: I had a rear exhaust heat shield pitted. It was out of warranty but stealer gave me a take-off.

Just changed the Front drive gear and when I put back together I noticed the Heel-Toe shifter was starting
to peel, also of course my heated grips are starting to puke and the drivers backrest staples are pulling out.
Going to take to dealer and let them repair hopefully.   Chilly

Got the brake pedal and both hand grips (which are getting warm only on the 6th position). Some parts on the brake levers and on the crash bar are getting coppered.  :(

I just noticed that my front rim is pealing at the axle. Found it two days after my warranty expired.

The mirror stems on mine are peeling in the first cut out. Any one have any luck getting this kind of problem covered under warranty? Bike is still under factory warranty.

Had the same issues on just about all my chrome on my 08 Ultra SE3.  I live in TN, bike is in a heated and cooled garage and most all the chrome was peeling away, shifter, mirrors and stems, brake pedal, front fork,   Dealer replaced all that that was bad.  just before warranty was out.  They said Harley will replace any bad chrome one time and one time only while in warranty. so make your list and check it twice !!  Now starting to peel again.  Guess they need to find another Chinese chrome shop.  Now I know why my Goldwing is mostly plastic and black anodized metal.

2010 SESG has both shifters, brake lever, both grips and derby cover peeling. Dealer has all parts on order (I sorry I mean back order). Also on 3rd set of front brake rotors for brake surge.
