I hate 'covers' also, but I disagree on the starter not being able to be seen very well....once it's chrome, you'll see it a bunch.  (I have a great dealer that let me swap my stock black on for a chrome one while new and just paid the diff.)....One option a lot of people do is install the little chrome end cover on the black one and wait until later to swap the entire starter in case something goes amiss with the black one).  Agree on the stainless fasteners as a priority.  One cover that does  look great is the one that goes at the bottem of the jugs, the V-cover, and it finishes off the chrome inner-primary in my estimation.  Ain't this fun?  :huepfenjump3: har.  spyder

I would leave the stock starter in there.  At least till it fails.  Especially that isn't seen totally well.   I do like the chrome inner tho.  ;)

I would do the chrome starter with the inner primary if it doesn't hurt your wallet.

I just talked to the dealer and added a chrome starter to the list for when I drop it off this Wednesday. I agree  about the piece at the borrom of the jugs where it meets the inner primary, have done it on both my 04 Fatboy, 05 Road Glide and already have it to put once the bike is back, and also agree about the Hot Toppers kit is here also waiting for next weekend.  Thanks Guys!!!!!

dont know if im right or wrong on this but i think the chrome starter is the beefier higher output version. So with that said and if it is,, just another plus to go with the chrome starter   :nixweiss: :nixweiss:   :2vrolijk_21:

I agree 100% with cahdbiker only because I made the same decision.  The stainless bolt kits are expensive but more noticeable than the starter.  Plus when you start putting chrome, ie the inner fairing, than the non-stainless bolts are really noticeable.  I definitely wouldn't put a cover on.

The bikes already come with the higher output starter standard, just not chromed.  $100 for a tiny bit of plating on the exact same starter seems about right for H-D.  Probably costs them $5 more than the painted version, if that.

No chrome covers, real parts chromed or leave them black.

If you like it, do it.  Your bike, your money.  As long as you are happy with it, who cares what anyone else thinks?

Isn't there a word for this?  Chromalic?   I had it for quite some time.   Do it for a while and it gets easy to get over.  :'(
