T-Max or Power Vision Help
« on: June 10, 2011, 06:48:57 PM »

Hi everyone :) I just got my V&H Power duels and Highoutputs slipon's will be installed on Tuesday. I am going to Laconia tomorrow to buy the ECM computer for tunning. Im thinking on T-Max Autotunner or the new Power Vision with touch screen, There is no Maps for 110's so far for the power Vision, I talk the technical guy and he will be working Laconia booth, he told me he can help, so do anyone have experience with this unit? The T-Max autotuner people will be there also and will be installing them installing on bikes at the show,  can someone tell me their opinion and experience with this units and if the $950 for T-Max is worthit? The power Visin is about 550. I am cluless when it comes to tunning. Thanks for your help

I purchased the PowerVision from www.fuelmotousa.com and they supplied me with a map for my 110 with the current upgrades and I am really enjoying it.

I have a T-max on my current 2010 CVO, plus I had one on my last bike.  I am very happy with the system, however you will get a lot of members on this system use TTS or Rev Performance.  A lot of promoted products on this site by vendors, do your homework, and determine features and ease of use.  What I like about TMAX, is that you set it up on your bike, ride it and it self tunes.  If you want to speed up the process or change something on your bike, you can hook it up to a PC and auto tune the bike which saves the current map readings and creates a new benchmark to tune from.  Good luck, if they are there and will install and set initial map, your good to go.  I will be riding through Laconia just after the event on the 23rd.

Thank you for your help :) I am trying to do homework  :D It is so comfusing with so many different opinions and products, not a lot of professional opinions that you can count on in my state that I know of. I like the Auto tune idea but have no experience and powervision easy programing is attractive. Do maps for the T-Max exist or is a compleat Autotune?

I know nothing about the Power Vision. I had a Thundermax on a 06 Dyna.  Tmax was good at the time but I was always messing with it. For the money take a look at the Rev Perf EMS. Several good threads on it here and very good things about it

I had a SE race tuner on my 09 and then went with the T-max auto-tune and really like how much it improved my performance.  If you are comfortable with computers at all and have a little bit of time you will have good results with the T-max.
The wide band O2 sensor tuners will allow bigger fuel adjustments to be made while in closed loop operation.  This is where you will be operating more than 95% of the time.
Tuners that use wide band O2 sensors are: T-max, PC-V, Rev Perf EMS, and probably more but those are the three I would consider.  I don't know anything about the new power vision.

Yes, they have several pre-installed maps, but if your planning to have them install it at Laconia, your all set!  They will install the best base map for your bike based on what you have done to this point.  You ride the bike and it self tunes as you ride.  After you ride it for a while, you hook it up to a lap top, plug it in, its very simple, and read your settings.  After that your hit the 'autotune' tab and save it. You just raised the base map floor to your current readings.  Based on your readings, you may want to do that a couple times so you have the base map updated to maximum settings.  I like it, but if both vendors are there, you can get good information, talk with other that have each system, and get them installed professionally.  Sounds like a plan!

I was just reading about the Power Vision.  It uses the HD narrow band O2 sensors.  Go with a tuner that uses wide band O2 sensors.  Ask some of the experts...you will find the HD narrow band O2 sensors are limited how rich they will tune too, with any tuner in closed loop.  There is a reason the newest auto-tunes (Tmax, PCV, Rev Perf EMS) are all using the wide band O2 sensors.
Take some time to ask some questions from various manufacturers and you will get a pretty good idea of where you want to go with this.

The Tmax is very easy to use.  Plain and simple tell it what A/F ratio you want and it will tune it to get you there.

You mentioned you just had power duals installed....if you have a 2010-2011 bike you may have gotten the power duals with the narrow band sensor bungs that are down by the trans. Anything that uses wide band sensors has larger bungs located up top near the exhaust ports on the heads. Either this pipe has both sets so you can go either way on the sensors, or you need to switch to an '09 stye pipe with the correct location and larger bungs. If you don't then going to a show and getting the T-Max installed right there is not an option.

If you have an 09 bike already or the proper pipe, then disregard this entire post..personally I have a 2011 with the rev Performance EMS which needed the 09 style headpipe. Bike runs good and I am happy--no dyno or tuning needed. My last bike had a TTS from Steve at Fullsac which ran well also, but it requires re-tuning if you do any additional mods or changes. Both are fine products.

OK, Update  :) first thanks you for your wise comments. I just came back from Laconia, It was raining all day, I am cold and wet after 140 mile ride :'(  I talked to TMax people first, the guy I email with was there and told me that the new 10's and 11's pipes did not have big ports for O2 sensors, My V&H tduels can not be tune by dyno and sensors do not fit, unless modified and could not do today maybe later when tech gets there during the week. So whent to Power Vision booth and they had same problem with sensors and no tunes for 110's I offerd to use my bike for building a tune that they could use but did not have the right ports for sensors, did not offerd solution  ??? so whent to Kuryakyn tent, they were helpfull, told me the 09 and early pipes have big ports and new have small, at least their pipes and V&H, not all but Power Duels like mine, but is what I had sso after talking to them they install the TTS tuner, not an auto tunner but they help me and have all kinds of tunes available for the 110, I will use the program tune they gaveme for 110, V&H PD and High Outputs with highflow filter and will Dyno later. Things happend for a reason so I got no help from PV or TMax so whent with TTS, Next Cams and porting next summer ;)
Thank you for your help

:) I like it so far, the tune that Kuryakyn used works great :mango: got pipes on and made a big difference with power!!! Smooth and fast, the only thing is that they are LOUD! Holy guacamole!!! Deep sound, nice tone, sounds like a Harley but loud. I am going to have to invest in the ear speaker lol. Next save for cams and figure out if porting will increased power on this motor  and find a good porter, any suggestions??? also thin gasket for heads.  :) that is the story so far  :)
