have a 10 Ultra Limited w/ Rinehart TD's. These are great around town but on the road the noise is freaking nuts! I have removed the standard baffle and wrapped them w'm fiberglass muffler matting, that did little to change the noise.

I know  that Rinehart makes a quieter baffle whic I tried on my my 03 SERK, those did not make anything quieter. Hate to take a chance on the new quieter baffle made by them as I figure I would just be wasting $$. I did contact Cycle Shack and they did tell me that they made somthing for them and asked dimesnions I do not know them so I just sent them the Rinehart TD part number for the system and they never wrote back.

Anyone else out there off somthing that really works? I did find another company but I forgot the name of them, they offered some type of endcap that fit on the stock baffle I believe.

TIA,
John :nervous:

Or you can do like I did after buying some that set off car alarms. Find someone who wants loud pipes and sell them.

S'cuse me if this is rude but if I understand you correctly, you bought these after already having owned a set on a previous H-D and now you get around to worrying about the decible level ?  My advice - - -advertise them in the selling section of the website here. I am sure somebody would be very happy to get a decent deal on an exhaust system that's been taken apart and monkey'd around with. So long as you didn't scratch em or bung up any hardware you should be able to get 50 cents on the dollar for em.

Sorry, no wise ass comment for you  ::), but maybe see if you could see if Fullsac or Rush 1.75" baffles would fit in there. Surely they would quiet them down.

What did you do with the stock exhaust system?  If you did the smart thing and kept it, then it would be easy to contact Fullsac for a set of their baffles made to fit in the stock muffler cans.  They also sell a nice "catless" set of head pipes.  Then do like others have suggested and sell those Rinehardts on ebay or elsewhere.

Thanks,
The TD's were on the bike when I purchased it. Still have the OEM complete system, would rather try and find a baffle that would quiet them down before taking off the whole system or buying some different mufflers that would fit on the TD head pipes. Looking for a economical way to quiet down what I have already.

As I mentioned I did see a company that offered a baffle for the one's I have now but lost the info.

i really can't take the Rineharts just for that reason.   I was like everyone else years ago,,, and had to have em,...  i didn't ever like them,, couldn't hear the radio and it just made a long day of riding even longer,,,,  Try to sell them and get anything else that has a wrapped baffle, or try the Fulsac 1-3/4"..   Good luck,,,  I went with Bub 7 Stealth,, I can hear my radio at half volume at 80... That is how I like it anyway,,,,  just sayin" :P

I know that Fuelmoto has muffs that will fit the TD headers perhaps that would be my last route, I really hate to drop that kind of coin at this time would rather try and find a replacement baffle, as I said I did find one but cant remember who made it or the other route. I can hear the radio all right but the sound its just plain bad especially when you have a helmet on, its even worse.

I tried "quiet" baffles that are offered by Rinehart and that didn't make a difference either.  I think my bike went a little leaner but the sound was the same.  I didn't keep those on very long at all either.  Bub also has 2" muffleres that will fit your head pipes too. I really don't think you will very happy until you change yours.   It's like the saying goes... " you either love em or you don't ".  :nixweiss:

I would love to be able to offer the member who began this thread a price for those Reinharts, but they won't fit my 07. As to the comments about them being trendy, I think that's offbase. Reinharts ran fabulous on 103" motors. As MJZ can attest from the dyno sheets AND from owning Elvis for a couple years, this system really produced power on a 103. I have no idea what works best or what's trendy for the 110's. I have heard a set of Fullsac baffles on a 2011 110 and they sounded great. The bike also got down the highway very nicely so I guess all the good vibes on Fullsac must be justified. But you know, having been on this site for 6 years now and seeing it grow exponentially, I've also seen the Lemming mentality crop up from time to time on some items. I've been doing this for about 45 years now and one thing I can say about exhaust systems. Everyone has their own personal idea of what the ideal sound is. And sound has a lot to do with perception on performance. I think if we could totally deafen ourselves to any exhaust noise whatsoever and ride our H-D's with several of the current popular exhaust systems, we might be surprised as to which one we liked the "feel" of best. In any event, I stand by my post that the member who started this thread should sell the Reinharts and find something else he likes better. My guess would be that using the Fullsac baffles on his stock system would most likely give him the best result.

Probabably before I sold the whole system I would just possibly sell the mufflers and just go with a different set, as I know Fuelmoto does offer them with a full range of changeable baffles. But even doing that I would have to got the dyno route again. I would rather just do some experimenting first w/ baffles.

I found these http://www.smartpartz.com/SPZRITD.html  as well as I have spoke to these folks before http://www.bigcitythunder.com/ and they also offer somthing. I must say that the performance if great with the RTD and as well as the sound for awhile but for touring forget about it.

Haven't seen this suggestion on this site but I'm on 2nd CVO Ultra(07 now 11):  Friend suggested few years back when I complained about upper engine noise to try those cheap blue ear plugs you get at a drug store.  I find them incredible: eliminates wind noise, and that upper engine (washing machine noise I hear on all Harleys & other bikes). You hear the deep muffler rumble and the radio sounds better. And you still hear outside sounds.  Sounds like a "trailer court" fix but works for me.

Sorry, I can't relate! I have the same set up, with the perfomance baffles and the louder the better!  I like to annoy people so they know I'm there.

If you have the 4" Rinehart's Big City Thunder will not be able to help you. They make a baffle that fits in the back end of the headpipe..but I don't think it will quiet things down much for you.

On a side note...if you DO have the 4" Rineharts and they are in REALLY, REALLY good shape I would be interested in buying them.
