COBALT BLUE PAINT WTF??
« on: June 14, 2011, 01:08:01 PM »

OK I bought the chin spoiler from harley for my 2011 blue convert and not one body shop will paint it so I had to return it? I really think it will look great but even harley wouldnt give me the paint code. I mentioned that I was the guy that dished out the 30 grand and I just wanted to have the piece painted even if they would do it and ship it to me painted they said no you need to go to a local shop to get it painted. Does anyone have the code or know someone in the boston area that will paint it. Thank you!!

You just cannot get the "codes"

best you can do is find a guy that will say he will match it and hope he does......

I hear the secret codes to the CVO paints are in a vault, in a vault, inside the vault at Fort Knox. :D I do agree a chin spoiler would look nice on that bike.

I was talking to hd-dude about a different set of bags and rear fender for my bike, he said his painter could match it. Might want to give him a call.

Chasis masters out of laconia NH painted mine. They can get the codes or color match it. Their tel # is 603-524-4160. Don't return it, it really is a nice addition.

Another suggestion -- Contact Paint by Gene / a.k.a Gene Neilsen / a.k.a. Bigfaty's -- http://www.bigfatys.com/

Just do search on this forum and you'll see his name all over the place... he's done several pieces for me and it looks perfect...

They also do Harley's numbered paint sets so they might have a way of getting the code.

I know what you mean about getting the paint matched.  Had a little mishap where a gas trimmer fell off the wall in my garage.  Took a chip of paint off rear fender of my maple/cvo convertible about half the size of a penny.  Insurance company knew that no one could match it perfectly, so they bought me a brand new painted rear fender from HD. Cost was over $2100.  Fortunately I had a low deductible.  Best part was, it only took about 6 days to get the fender.

No big thing here.  Any good painter can match any color just about.  I've had a few things redone over ther years and no one can tell anything was done.. Just find a good guy to work with.

:confused5: :confused5: :confused5:  Have you tried Gene?  I've never had trouble getting them (Pam) to call me back.

I'm telling you, you won't be disappointed...  I know it's not in your area but he's not in mine either... it was worth it for me to ship everything to him... and I can almost guarantee you Cobalt blue is not an issue because I've seen his work on the Cobalt '08 SERK.  He has pictures posted on the www.bigfatys.com web site.
