Question on Corbin seat
« on: June 15, 2011, 04:25:56 PM »

Greetings...I have made my tour pak detachable on my CUSE2 and want to get a Corbin Young Guns seat.  However, I notice there is extra hardware that has to be installed to make it work.  I need to be able to put my stock seat back on with minimal hassle when my better half wants to ride.  Does anyone know if the stock seat will go back on without taking off the Corbin hardware?

Many thanks!

I've done the same thing and gotten the Corbin Young Guns seat for my 06 SEUC.  The Corbin hardware I have connects only to the fender posts where the stock back rest bracket attaches.  Its a simple matter of removing the nuts from those screws to lift off the Corbin bracket and replace it with the HD stock back rest bracket.  Takes 5 minutes because I'm slow.

My seat was ordered as a CVO version but unbeknownst to me when it arrived, it came as a standard version though it had the ostrich center panel and stitching like a CVO version.  I believe the difference is that with the CVO version, there may be a second Corbin connecting post in the front of the seat that you may have to attach to the frame, where with my standard version, there is no front connecting post and the seat pan has a tongue that slips into the frame hole just like the stock seat, with only the rear connecting post.  The problem I have with this arrangement is that I cannot use the seat with my detachable tourpak as you have to place the front tongue into the frame, then push the back part of the seat down on the rear connecting post.  You can't do that with the tourpak on and if you put the seat on first, then try and attach the tourpak, the rear cushioning in the seat is too high to allow the tourpak to mount on the posts.  I should have sent it back but didn't discover the screwup until almost a year later when I decided to try and mount the tourpak with the Young Gun seat.  I use my stock seat whenever I use the tourpak.

If you don't ever plan to use your tourpak with the Young Gun seat, I'll be happy to sell you mine and I'll order the CVO version.  Good luck with it.  You'll enjoy the look without the tourpak.

Interesting picture from Corbin's website showing the Youngun seat on a bike with HD's two-up detachable hardware kit installed; and, the Notes say the seat will work with HD detachable trunkrests (?) and  passenger backrests:

Tom149, awalker14, and harleypingman...thank you for the information.  Awalker14 -- I will never use my tourpak when using the Young Gun seat.  Do you have a picture of the seat on your bike I can see, and how much would you sell the seat for?  Thanks.

Panther, you're welcome.  By the way, I had the same tour pak and while installing and removing the premium leather tour pak may not be a P90X work-out, it's definitely a load that requires careful handling.  I'll never complain about the bulk or weight of the plastic Ultra tour pak after the experience with the CUSE/2 tour pak. ;)

Yeah...I have only taken it off so far.  And I can tell getting it back on is going to be a load.  Thanks again.

It is no "day at the beach" to put back on. I recommend opening your saddlebag lids first and then possibly enlisting the help of another to help guide it into place.

awalker14, when you remove your tourpak which way did you go with the amp, and how does it sound??  Still waiting to bite the bullet on the removeable tourpak, and still trying to figure out which way to go.

Hacksaw...the way I did mine may be a little different from others.  I don't care if my rear speakers work when the tourpak is on, so I ditched the stock amp attached under the tourpak and installed a J&M 250 watt amp along with their new 7 1/4" speakers in the fairing.  It totally rocks compared to the stock set up.  Also, may I say without that heavy leather tourpak on the bike, the handling, braking, and acceleration have exceeded my expectations!

Figure if I'm goin far and need the tour pak I'll put the stock seat back on. I ordered a mount from FBI, but haven't even started messing with that yet.

No problem, I ordered and it took about two weeks. Corbin ships it to tri-county, they put another label on the box and then ship to your address. Rebecca was the girl who helped me, I told her my bike and what seat I wanted and she called back in fifteen minutes with a price (513)874-4343

That's a great looking seat! The price seems very reasonable!
