XM to SESG2 - Added XM shows up, now can't see iPOD
« on: June 25, 2011, 10:17:38 PM »

I have added the XM modual to my 2011 SESG2, XM show up fine and works!  My problem is that now I don't see the iPOD on the radio. I used what I thoght was Carl's direction and used the Non Ultra overlay harness.  Put the 3 pins from the old 35 pin connector into the new 35 pin conector.( I assume these were for the iPOD) Made the 6B connector.  So was I supposed to reconnect the iPOd to a new connection on the overlay harness? or does the radio need to be flashed to see both units... or did I just screw someting up?

Thanks!

I made a new harness for the XM module when I added it, so I can't help you with the NUOH...but I do know the radio does not have to be flashed to see both modules. It should just work. I would recheck that all the pins you added to the new connector are in all the way. Sometimes they may not lock into place properly.

As mjb765 mentioned, be sure the wires you inserted are fully seated.  An easy way to check is to remove the plug from the HK and look at the surface of the red wedgelock; you should be able to see the sockets up against the inner surface of the wedgelock.  It's very easy to get a false lock; i.e., the sockets feel like they're fully inserted, but they aren't.

Also, here are the iPod installation instructions.  Check to be sure that the wires you inserted into the 35 wire connector are in the correct chambers:

And congrats on a successful XM installation!!!  Glad to hear you were able to fab the 6B connector and the NUOH is working properly.

Thanks... Once again this forum proves to be more helpful than some of the info you get from HD - They made an appt from me to have the radio flashed said it would not see it until flashed.  The + pin on the iPOD CAn was loose.  I am Happy to say all is working well iPOD & XM.

Thanks to all for the helpful info.
