Key icon stays illuminated and turn signals don't work
« on: June 25, 2011, 10:29:39 PM »

I was out riding today, everything was functioning fine until I stopped for a break and shut the bike off, thats when my wife and I noticed the alarm chirp when I got off the bike, like it does when you are moving the bike around and forget your key fob, and put it on its sidestand. She asked , why did that do that and I said I'm not sure.......??? I had my key fob on me, so we took off and I went on down the road and noticed the key icon in the speedometer was illuminated and wouldn't go out. I also noticed the turn signals didn't work at all..........so it never did straighten out and I got the owners manula out when I got home and it said 'if the key icon stays illuminated longer than 4 seconds indicates that service of the module is required'. Under the trouble-shooting section it says ' if it stays illuminated' see your dealer.

Anybody had this happen and can help me out? thanks

First check/change the battery of your key fob.
Did you try to enter the code using the handlebar turn signals buttons?
If the turn signal doesn't work you can also check the accessory fuse under the left side panel under the seat behind the saddle bag.
Hope this may help you, and let me know what was the problem.

I just put a new battery in the key fob a month ago and I haven't tried anything else yet. My first thought was a blown fuse until I read the owners manual, then I thought uh-oh, gotta call the dealer. I will check those out and let you know if anything fixes the problem.

I had also read on a couple other threads that sometimes just starting your bike after shutting it off clears up the issue.

Your security light most likely is telling you that your TSSM has a trouble code stored....

Here, try this:

murphy......Ok heres what I found. went and started the bike and lo and behold the key icon light went out after 4-5 seconds and my turn signals function again.  :nixweiss: so I shut it off and went thru DTC process to see if any codes showed up.......it was 'none'...... what does that mean and should I still call my dealer you think?
