Ouch!
« on: June 26, 2011, 02:26:50 PM »

When cleaning bike yesterday, I noticed the "beer can" or fork cover or whatever you call it had been damaged by a rock. Cost of part is $191!!!! May just powder coat a stock one black and call it good.

I took a rock or something with mine last year and it left a nice dent in the chrome.  I feel your pain!

Did you guys hear the it hit?  I picked up a serious dent in my right cowbell up in Tahoe last week.  While I've heard rocks hit that didn't dent anything, before.....this time I didn't hear anything.  I'm just really surprised, as big a dent as it is that I didn't hear it loud and clear. :nixweiss:

That's a thought.....I appreciate the offer.  Very kind of you sir. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:  Uhhh, but I think I'll pass.

Actually, I'm kicking around the idea of going with chrome.  The painted cowbells is something I had a hard time getting past when the bike first came out and then it grew on me to the point where I actually liked it.  But now I'm kicking it around again.
I don't believe the stock ones are chrome....I believe they're just polished.  I'd have to get them chromed to match the legs. :nixweiss:

I'm not sure if this is applicable to your dent, but here in the St. Louis area we have tons of Chipless Dent repair places because of all the hail in this region.

If it's painted now and not chipped, they may be able to go up from the bottom and work out the dent.  If the metal is stretched badly from the dent, it may not work out well.

Just a thought that might say you some bucks.  They usually charge $25.00/dent.  Check some out locally if you can.

Good luck with you dent.

You can't enjoy these babies unless you ride em and if you ride em you are gonna get some road rash! Happy trails and if people notice your dent just tell em to go ride and quit rubbing on them.
