Looking at the line up on the HD website, are they cutting out the softail and dyna models or is the line up on there just the models that are changing?

H-D released 2012 Touring and Sportsters early this year.  They will release the softails and dynas at the Dealer meeting later this month.

Haven't seen a post but was shown a copy of the CARB for cvo's and it shows a Convertible, Road Glide Custom, Ultra and Street Glide. All with same 110's. Also shows anniversary Vrod with their (Vrod's) same engine. Anyone see anything different? Lots of 103's in bikes, not just touring.

Standard engine for the Touring and Softail lines is the 103 for 2012; the Dyna's still have the 96.  CVO's, of course, still have the much loved 110.  Used to be that folks bought a CVO to get the better engine; I wonder if we'll start seeing folks abandon the CVO's to get the better engine that's in the standard models?  I guess time will tell.

You say the above like you believe the 07 and up 96" and 07 and up 103" is a better engine.
Please tell me you haven't started drinking that koolaid.

You missed the  ;)  part Chip.  I never did drink the Harley Kool-Aid, and I'm much less likely to do so now with their proven record of cheap crap, poor quality, and lousy customer service.  Considering how many 110's still have crappy tapered cylinders, I just figured maybe the 96 and 103 would be better in that one area.  Still got the same cheap low quality crank, though.  In case you're wondering, I'm still not interested in buying any of them.  Maybe when I become a little more senile.

Was there any cosmetic difference between the 2011 and 2012 black Ultra Limiteds?

no change in the line up for the Ultra Limited.  color offerings only.  black on black 2012 looks exactly like the 2011.

I agree...there is no comparison between the CVO 103's and the current 103's.  Other than the displacement being the same - there are few other similarities...

Not in my opinion....  EPA cams, looser tolerances, leaner factory tunes, etc. etc.

But better chain tensionsers!   :2vrolijk_21:

If it wasn't for the new frame or the ABS the new bikes would struggle to compete.

Honestly.... truth be told... I'm not really sold on those... there have been posts/talk of even the newer frames having issues... they may be somewhat more isolated then the older frames but some have noticed issues w/them... as for the ABS breaking... I still (and have had to use) the old fashioned method of pumping/applying and releasing brakes to prevent skidding. New technology is good... but sometimes it hampers the things we've been taught to do. :nixweiss:

The only problem with that method, Gary, is that on a bike if you lock up the rear wheel in a panic stop, you better keep it locked up (sliding) or else you'll experience a hand-full of handling problem once the wheel starts rotating again.  I guess the ABS keeps the wheel from completely locking-up somehow.  Even ABS wouldn't have saved me in this last wreck.  Sometimes you just don't have enough room to stop. period.  :'( spyder
