At the dealer yesterday and the only change I could see on the touring models
was a screw in dipstick. Anything else?

The only problem with that method, Gary, is that on a bike if you lock up the rear wheel in a panic stop, you better keep it locked up (sliding) or else you'll experience a hand-full of handling problem once the wheel starts rotating again.  I guess the ABS keeps the wheel from completely locking-up somehow.  Even ABS wouldn't have saved me in this last wreck.  Sometimes you just don't have enough room to stop. period.  :'( spyder
Spyder I can honestly say recently I've had an incident where I had to apply the brakes in a "panic" stop (had an a-hole cross in front of me) and because I was able to remember to apply the front/rear brakes and when I felt the rear brakes lock I started to pump them it helped me stop w/o hitting the idiot. Don't know if the "new technology" would have made a difference but I do know what I've learned in the past a "zillion" years ago could have possible saved me from some serious "road rash" this time. You have to remember that a sliding tire will not stop you as fast as a tire that is still rotating and applying brakes. :nixweiss:

Oh I totally know that, just not good enough in that split second emergency to be able to modulate manually as a ABS system does.  Now you, on the other hand, much younger and with all those space-age metal parts might be able to do just that.  ;D har.  spyder

I think it was more of the underlined that helped me remember then the age... when I'm walking/riding around w/artificial parts to start with I have to be that much more careful to protect them... I'm already a "statistic". :nervous:

Understand.  I sure found out that I don't heal as fast as when I was younger, so whenever I do get back in the saddle, I'm gonna double-up on my defensive riding for all those other fools out there.  All it takes is one to ruin your whole  summer so be careful 'statistic'.  :)  har.   spyder

2012 CVO Rumor
« Reply #50 on: July 14, 2011, 08:37:25 AM »

Have been around this CVO thing quiet a few years now and fully understand that HD keeps all this and that under wraps but also realize its a business and as they prepare to make shipments they have to converse with dealers to some degree especially large ones. So I asked a dealer principal yesterday while in a meeting on unrelated business and thought I would tell you guys. Let me also say first I asked if it was ok to repeat and second to say the conversation was asked of him like this "what would your interest be of a bike makeup like this or that" so this in no way is fact just interesting.

First it was said that this will be an interesting year. For alot of reasons more than years past

Obviously the Ultra will be done

Road Glide Ultra fielders choice because 2 year run is "Normally" the limit the RG Ultra was technically new

Street Glide he expected to see that one more year for some reason

Strong feeling the Road Kind would be back for 2012 to restart interest. Its been all Road Glide, Street Glide and Ultra for a few years

Non touring bikes he has NO idea

On engines he had a strong feeling of either a 120 type engine OR small (real small) oil cooler radiator with line going to head so Oil Cooled Heads OR both

Funny how we are all like kids at Christmas but you guys here things out there as well and one piece here and a piece there lets the mind wonder. Good news is in 10 days or so we will know.

You all have a great day!!!

California ARB filings already defined models and engines.  Dealer rumors notwithstanding Harley can't do product they don't get approved with the Government.

What did the filings reveal? I always understood they got permission but that was for production as well as R&D? You taught me something there.

Yeap, it was nothing new and exciting for models or engines.  Perhaps there are some killer graphics that will make it all exciting?

Oh, wait; Harley wouldn't try to massage client interest with bling over engineerin......     Uh, never mind.

No Road Glide Ultra this year. Thought they would do it at least one more year.
I like the RGU but was hoping for better colors this year.

I am also surprised they are doing a Road Glide Custom and a Street Glide.
Same bike just different fairing.

Well at least I hope they make the RGC in Krypto Green.
