I am [highlight]still [/highlight] in the mix for a Solo Saddle hookup that incorporates the Stock chrome. This week I employed Andy at Bar Enterprises, Sunland Ca.
Andy seems like a great guy. He knew exactly what the standard complaint was: "the stock solo seat sucks". Try saying that 10 times fast. Anyway, we spoke for about an hour until we agreed on a potential "Custom Seat" that is just the remanufacturing of the stock cover and installing some "M-Foam" for comfort. The foam is very easy on the ass, and can be tapered down for multiple applications: skinny legs, fat legs whatever.
His shop is humble, busy and full of textile samples and was not my first choice of companies I targeted. But through the process of seeking reputable, honorable and respected seat manufacturers, I discovered a factor that became primary in the decision making process: first hand knowledge and experience of the application. See, he has been on many seats just like our stock solo seats and hated the lack of comfort as well. That's good news cause I don't want another long waitiing period just to see if my ride is "good enough" to make a seat for like I experienced at LePera.
Don't get me wrong, I love my two up seat from LePera. But after waiting 4 weeks just to hear they "are too busy" to even make an attempt to remanufacturer my seat was just a waste of time. That's after making my two up custom seat for $800.00!!
OK, I have already ordered the upgraded seat from Andy at Bar Enterprises. I requested some graphics inlayed (lightning bolts with carbon fiber in dark grey) and I am seeking a "perfect Patch" to be sewn in at a minor cost. Included is a sample of a patch I was thinking about. Any suggestions?? I'm listening as always.
