flooded out
« on: June 28, 2011, 09:37:22 AM »

been fighting floods all spring around here (minot north dakota) and finally lost the fight friday evening. the river took out about 4000 homes in the city proper and probably that many more in the outlying areas.
just waiting for the water to recede and get in and start the cleanup and rebuilding process.
was able to completely move out before the water came and will be able to start up housekeeping again once the house is repaired. untill then we're living in our 5th wheel camper on the family farm 10 miles north of town.
the attatched picture shows my dwelling from the air as the national guard makes periodic over flights in their blackhawk helicoptors with news crews aboard filming the devastation.
we'll get thru this and be stronger people for it as the folks in north dakota are resiliant and willing to help each other in times of need.

My condolences to you and all the flood victims. I can't even imagine returning to the mess and all the work to clean and repair your home.
God bless and best of luck.

Best wishes to you and yours. Went through a bad flood here in 2009, took a minute to recover but now it is just one of those character and resolve building things that we go through from time to time. You'll get it behind you soon.

we sincerely appreciate all the heartfelt comments from all of the fine folks on this forum, they truly mean so much to deb and myself. true , we wil get thru this and come out the other end in good shape but we cannot forget about  the folks who are not as fortunate as us that do not have the family support system and the financial wherewithall to ride such an occurance out. we pray for those folks each and every time we sit to take a meal and before resting our head on our pilllow at night.
once again, thank you all so much.
