Hello from California
« on: June 28, 2011, 04:13:32 PM »

Hello, I just purchased a 2000 FLTRSEI.  I've been saving and looking for one for awhile now.  I was real glad when I found one in my area and purchased it.  Although, now and maybe premature, but not too sure what I've bought.  It needs new tires, so I just took it to the local shop and just got a call from the mechanic that when attempting to pull the front wheel off to replace the front tire, it appears the wheel spacer and bearing is frozen on the axle.  (I don't feel so well. :-\ ) Also, the front brake lever has a lot of travel, which doesn't seem right.  The mechanic also mentioned it.  And then one more thing that I am not sure is supposed to be, is that the oil pressure goes really low, below 10 when idle hot.  The pressure seems normal when first started, just after riding for about 10 minutes and stopped at a light I noticed it goes real low.  Is that suppose to be like that?

Anyway, I was pretty stoked when I bought it and it looks real good, although I hope it doesn't become a money pit.

Where in Cali are you? If you are anywhere near the bay area talk to Jim @ Metal Dragon in Hayward he has my bike right now, that is saying quite a bit. He will get recommendations from all geographies in this group. It is kinda normal to see the oil pressure drop and this is expected on all stock configuration HDs.

Oh welcome to the site.

Welcome to the site,  lchavez  :welcome_005:  from :sunny:  sunny So. Cal.  :sunny: and the CVO gang!  :vrolijk_6:  Congratulations on your SERG!  :2vrolijk_20:  :2vrolijk_20:  Good luck with the repairs!    :-\  :2vrolijk_21:   :2vrolijk_21:  The brake lever issue sounds like an adjustment and the low oil pressure at hot idle sounds pretty normal.  Sorry about the wheel spacer / bearing issue but it does not sound insurmountable.  There are a few members here with the classic SERG's that would know more than I, though.  Let us know where in CA you are and, lastly....

Sounds like you got a deal, the only "serious" thing is the wheel spacer/axle, rest can be adjusted. Welcome from MS  :orange:

Wecome to the site from SoCal and enjoy the bike. Just put new pads on the front brakes and the lever will come right up...been there done that. The low oil pressure at idle is about normal for our bikes. Where are you from in CA and what color bike did you get ?   Doc
