Saturday Ride to Monterey
« on: July 02, 2011, 09:43:21 PM »

Since JC & Terrie were in Monterey this weekend, Andy, Sherry, Helena, and I decided to meet them.  The plan was to ride to Nepenthe for lunch.  We had a special visitor with us:  Marty 110MOFO rode up from Simi Valley (about 400 miles) to join us!  We left the house and it was about 95 degrees, heading south on Highway 85.  When we got to Hwy 101 it was a dead stop!  We land split to the next exit and took the back roads through the mountains to the coast.  When we got there, we had to stop to put on jackets since it was 35-40 degrees cooler!  With traffic being so bad no matter where we went, we met up with JC & Terrie on Cannery Row and scrapped the Nepenthe idea since it would have been a really slow ride.  We had lunch, hung out a little bit, then Marty jumped on his bike and headed back home!  I think that his new nickname should be "Little Van"!  ;D

They both like to ride, that is how you get good at it.
Let's see:
They both live in So. Cal.
They both ride Eagles
They both love to ride
They both have great wifes
They both like me
Well then, Little Van it is.....

Glad you made it home OK Marty.  You put some miles on yesterday.

Terrie and I just woke up here in Monterey and the locals were right.... totally sunny and no fog! :2vrolijk_21:

We're going to ride down to Carmel for breakfast and then down the coast for a leisurely ride.......see if we can't get in the way of some of those tourists. :huepfenlol2:  Should be beautiful along the coast down there today.

We tried to catch the sunset on the bay last night.  Sunny where we were at, ride over just a few blocks, to the ocean drive and it's totally fogged in.  Typical Monterey weather.  Soon as we got back on Hwy. 1 it was sunny again. :nixweiss:

Hey, it's not just anybody who would do a 900 mile day ride to get together for lunch with friends!!!  Glad that you made it home safely and enjoy the beach!
