Touch Up Paint
« on: July 07, 2011, 02:55:37 AM »

Hey all

OK so I've searched and can't find an answer to this one!

I was out last weekend with some fellow riders, one of whom rides an anniversary Ultra.
He has the big black fairing bra on his bike. He maintains that I should get one as it cost him a small fortune to have his rock chipped fairing repainted.

No offence but that black bra looks pretty grim on his bike let alone putting one on my Kryptonite CVO.
I don't really want to go down the 3M armour route as it's also very expensive.

I know HD do touch up paint kits (I had one for my softail) but is there one for the Kryptonite colour????

Yes there is, I just got one.  The kit actually includes the Kryptonite green, the dark green, and black touch up paints.  I believe it cost somewhere around $58.00 US.  If you would like I could get you the part number off of the kit this evening when I get home.

Oh, and another thing.  Don't you dare cover up that beautiful paint with one of those bras.  Yuck!

You could also go this route.  Here is an ebay auction for a new kryptonite outer fairing.  You could buy it and to keep for a spare.

Thanks Ghost rider - that's really useful.

If you could let me know the PN I would be very grateful.

I'd buy that fairing if I was in the US but it's just too much hassle buying it from the UK!!!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

Nope.  I think I'm going to try the motorcycle armour with this bike.  Way more likely the "spare" would get scratched worse sitting around my garage than the one on the bike.  I guess I could use Chip's Parts Storage Emporium to store it.  I'll have to give that some thought.   :nixweiss:

+2 on the Motorcycle Amour. Great product. Reasonably priced when you think about the cost of repainting  fairing.

Just remember.
It's like that post earlier about Hotel California.
It may come to the SBB Garage but it will never leave.

Travis, it's a disease, I don't need a Kermit to collect stuff for one.
I have room for another fairing in the garage.
Work with me bud.

:D  At this point all the parts I can afford are already on the bike.  I do have the original headers and mufflers if you need those.  They look very good hanging from the garage ceiling.   :cucumber:

Would be interested in the tips if you want to part with them.

That would be much easier to ship than the whole system.  Just shoot me a PM and let me know.
