Muffler support bracket rubber keeps working loose
« on: July 08, 2011, 09:37:34 PM »

Anyone else having this problem? I am running V&H Hi output mufflers and the right side rubber keeps working its way out of the support bracket. (sitting on the bike) If this problem is common, has anyone found a solution?

Zip ties. That is what I used

This afternoon while washing my bike I noticed the right side rubber had worked out - left side was OK.  I replaced both rubbers this winter when I installed the V&H hi outputs just assumed I did not get the right one all the way in the bracket.

They will both get zipped tied tomorrow.   Thanks hotroadking for the idea.

I had the same problem. Sent e mail to V&H support. They send me a new rubber piece, said it was oversized and should correct the problem. Time will tell.

Mine also came loose twice on the right side. This last time I put it it from the back with the thick bump in the rear. It's staying put for now.

I thought of doing that, however I thought it may work loose the other direction and fall off.

Had the same problem a couple years ago, I drilled a small hole thru the bracket and rubber and installed a sheet metal screw, Hasn't come loose since.

Yes , just returned from an overseas trip and while cleaning bike noticed the rubber was out on the right hand side, would seem that that the cable or zip ties will be the solved action.

Mine did the same as well, turning the rubber bump around fixed my problem. For now anyway.
