Suggestions for best Map
« on: July 13, 2011, 11:41:22 AM »

Recently bought a used 2008 SERK.  It came with V&H true duals with slash cut mufflers and had the SERT (32114-01A SUBA) in the saddle bag with the cables.  I ordered the software from the local dealer (part#: 32111-11) and also waiting for a new Stage1 Arless Ness Big Sucker.  I was planning on trying to load the correct map myself.  Any suggestions of what map will work best for this set-up?  I find it runs hot now (i.e. lean)

Other newbie question - does the smart-tune feature work with the VCI that I have (black box with part#: 32114-01A)?

If you have never used the SERT I would suggest you get the training cd from harley. I did pretty much the same thing you are doing and found the training cd a big help. When you get the tuning cd it will contain a number of maps that will approximate what you are doing. You can use those as a base map and then record what is actually happening when you ride to fine tune the bike. That is unless you can get to a dyno. It is not as difficult as you might think, but make sure you follow the directions EXACTLY when you flash the new program.
I found out that I dropped the temp at least 20 degrees after the tune and the bike runs much stronger. Still work to do, but I am a happy camper so far.  :)

The easiest and best (IMO) way to load a map that will work for any mod and riding condition is the new Revloution Performance EMS system at http://www.revperf.com/Precision/index.html there are nothing but all positive post on this product here on this forum....it's simple and quick, install it and never worry about a good tune again, it tunes optium for you on the fly as you ride
