Progressive standing behind their product ??
« on: May 25, 2006, 12:01:58 AM »

Well I just found my right side progressive 440 shock is keaking or has leaked out. I think Progressive stands behind this defect for only 1 year.
Anyone else have this problem ?
This is what I sent to Progressive Warranty and Tech Support People. I will let you know If/when I get a response.

**I purchased your 11.5in 440 shock for my 04 Screamin Eagle Electra Glide over a year ago. I don't have a reciept. I am tearing the house apart looking for it. It was purchased new from one of your dealers on the internet.

The problem is the right side shock has leaked out. I have about 8 thousand miles on these shocks.

I read your warranty and I believe you stand behind this type of defect for 1 year.

Can this shock be repaired ? Is there a rebuild kit available ?
Can I purchase 1 shock ?
I really like the ride that these shocks give me, but I cannot afford to replace them every 8000 miles.
Please respond ASAP, my friends at CVOHarley.com will be very interested in your response.
Thank you very much

Hey Fred, if they can't help you I've got a couple of slightly used stock air shocks that I can sell you. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

I'll be real surprised if they don't get behind that shock for you......let us know.

You also may want to prepared yourself to do without the shock for a little bit.  I'll bet that they want it back to look it over and see where they went wrong.  I have heard steller things about the way they do business.  I bet you end up very satisfied with the issue.  Keep us posted...

Fred, aka "Kingsalmon", yes, please do keep us posted about your shock issue.  I have been considering getting the Progressive 440 to replace the HD factory air shocks.  From everything I have read in the past posts about the shocks they are the way to go.
Good luck with Progressive.

Day 2: no response from Progressive, I did some searching on other discussion boards and only found one guy that hates progressive service. Everyone else says they are great.
Nobody else has had this problem with their shocks that I know of.
JC I may take you up on the offer if I don't get this resolved in the next couple of weeks. When do you leave to start vacation? I would need to pick them up before then.

Have you tried calling them on their direct tech line...760.948.4012 ?  That number works 9-5 CA time for dealer inquiries.  Used it many times without a problem.  You'll talk to a live tech and get a yes or no while on the phone.  Hope this helps, as I'm sure that like most companies emails are way down the priority list for instant replies.

I had the same problem with a 440 shock leaking oil. I called, got a return number, sent both
shocks so they could check the good one, in a couple of weeks I got them back as good as new, and they have been fine since. It was great service, no fuss, and no charge. I stuck the airs on while they were gone, never missed a beat.

I'm going to call as soon as I get off work,
Did you have a reciept ? Was it within a year from when you purchased ?

I don't have a reciept and it has been over a year. I will have my fingers crossed when I call.

Called customer service, with a reciept, I can send them in and get it fixed. Without reciept, I can buy the rod assembly for between 90 and 170 dollars.
I know what I'll be doing this weekend, looking for a fricken reciept. She said a credit card reciept may work as well.

What about asking your bank for a copy of the transaction receipt or the company or shop you got the shocks from.  Long shot but is still a shot.  Good luck.  Let's Roll

I did not have a receipt, it never came up. I needed to have it fixed, I sent them in and they were returned as good as new, The only charge I had was the UPS out
I could not have had a better experience.

Kingsalmon,
Any luck finding receipt? If not try vtrod's procedure. Sometimes it's better to ask forgiveness then permission. :) In other words don't let them know you can't find receipt. ;D

I ordered all my transactions for 2004 through my bank, I won't get them till next week. I will be in North Carolina on business all next week so that means I will most likely be riding to CC with 1 bad shock. "as of now I can't feel the difference"
I am going to call Progressive today and see if they can help me out. Maybe a different Customer Service rep will have a better solution for me. I don't know if they can get it back to me in time anyway.  I also have some stock Road King shocks I can put on, but it will make the bike higher. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
