Began by letting some air out of "JACK'S" tires to ready ourselves for a muddy 100 mile trek on the DENALI HWY (that would be the first part of a close to 400 mi. day) Rain cutting our cheeks, heated gear maxed out a couple very close calls with planting our faces in the mud-we remained up-right or at least sideways laughing at young reindeer pirouetting in front of us and generally becoming as muddy and happy as any two year-old having a really cool time! We crossed the path of the PIPELINE (in fact followed it for a time) as it snakes the countryside-sometimes underground-at others 10 feet above so to let the Caribou's cross under. We found a room in TOK (not the same one as the time we passed through before(no vacancy)-we pulled in-exhausted just in time for patriotic music to begin blasting in front of our room. Staff in uniform and a bull horn calling for all VETS to gather and join in the ceremony of the"FLAG RETREAT". The flag pole happened to be directly in front of room 147-you guessed it-OUR ROOM. On that note I have to get some sleep so I can watch the light show tonight (2:30am) wishing on a star, Annie
