One less 2011 Black and Crimson FLHXSE2 in Illinois.
« on: July 17, 2011, 12:10:30 PM »

Well guys my trip to the west coast was awesome. 4334 miles of awesome riding. Made it home on Sunday the 10th. Things took a turn after that. I was riding home from work on Thursday and thanks to the awesome mowing job the state of Illinois does on the medians. A deer jumped in front of me at 70 mph. I barely had the time to say OH chit!!!! The bike went down and I did a somewhat controlled skid on my ass and elbows. I am as good as can be expected. Just some road rash on legs, knees, ass, elbows and hands. I was one lucky S.O.B. My bike is trashed. I cut the deer in half. I guess I will see how good Progressive insurance is. I had a full replacement policy, so if it is totaled I should have a new one in my garage.... hopefully soon.

At least you were fortunate enough that you can heal and the bike can be replaced.  I won't ride eastern Colorado or Nebraska after dusk because of all the blood stops on the road.  Hopefully, HD will build a great 2012 CVO Street Glide for you.

Deja vu...  I had a crash just like yours in 2004.  And I had Progressive Insurance also.  Within one week, I had a check in hand for a total replacement of my bike.  Progressive could not have handled it better!

I'm glad you survived relatively intact... :2vrolijk_21:

Glad you made it through the ordeal.  Damn deer are treacherous.  We have tons of them here they are smaller than up north but they can still kill you.  Hope things work out with your insurance company and you get a new bike.

Sorry for your bad luck, but so glad to read that you didn't get seriously messed up.  Good that the traffic wasn't a problem for your after hitting the deer.  Let us hear how the Progressive policy turns out for you.  Hopefully you'll get a good adjustor and not have any issues.  :2vrolijk_21: spyder

Glad you will recover but the next time you go deer hunting take a gun and leave the bike at the house. I do not like toi ride at dusk or later for that reason and NEVER in October and November.
