Texas Speed Limit to crank to 80
« on: May 25, 2006, 12:30:40 PM »

The Texas Legislature has approved fast track legislation increasing the speed limit on 500 miles of west Texas interstate highways to 80 mph. The bill only needs approval from the Texas Transportation Commission which meets today. Approval is expected and implementation within a month. Gotta love those Texans !

Yeee Hah........beginning to sound like the old days in Nevada "Reasonable & Prudent for Conditions"........no specified limits. Used to really clean out the old combustion chambers in those days.  [smiley=cowboy.gif] [smiley=2cr_01.gif]

Yeah,
The only problem is that 500 miles of Texas highway is only about 1/1000000000th of the total highways in Texas...........

The local news reports that the 80 mph signs are already made and ready to be put up.

It makes me wonder, when Hillary wants to drop the speed limits back to 55 mph and Texas wants to increase it to 80 mph. Hmmm I guess gas is cheaper in Texas. Later,Q

JR,

When Hillary becomes our next Prez, and Bill becomes "First Husband", I plan to illegally immigrate to Mexico.

In all seriousness, the only difference I see nowdays between the parties is that one is obviously "tax the middle class and wealthy, and then spend like there is no tomorrow", and the other is "cut taxes for the wealthy and spend what you don't have - let the next generation pay the piper".  IMHO, both are screwed up.

Well I didn't stray this thread into politics, but since it is already - - - - - - There can be better choices if you want there to be. Whatever your political persuasion, you can get involved via the primary process and try to ensure that the best candidate in your party gets the nomination. Right now, the Republican establismnet is looking to back McCain, but the best man IMO on that side of the aisle is Rudy Guilliani. As you say, it looks like the Dems are going to get behind Hillary, but the best person on that side of the aisle could well be a relative new comer. I think the Dems are looking for someone other than Hillary to come to the front. Again, vote in the primary and have an impact. Whomever you support, I would ask that you consider what it takes to manage the country and not elect someone for some symbolic value or because you are mad at someone. In my lifetime, we have had two Presidents (One Dem, One Repub) who were elected for their moral values. Both proved to be incredibly inept at the Business of running our country. Jimmy Carter while a great man put the country into recession and George W Bush (whom out of respect for the office I will not comment on) has led us into bankruptcy and created a new order in America where there is no middle class. If you love this country as much as I do, you have to vote for what is best for the country and not someone who shares your faith. We have some great religious leaders in this country and we should all look to them for spiritual guidance. We need a President who can run the business side of the country. Personally, as much as I tend to think Dem on social issues, on the business side I believe Rudy Guilliani is that man. So, even though I do not agree with the Rupubs on some things I will vote for what I think will best serve my country. I believe I accepted that responsibility a long time ago when as I child I pledged my " Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America "  When my mom took me to church I said my prayers and expressed my faith in God. We all need to understand the difference.

Yeah, 'er 'uh, grc,
As our Government can literally "make money", at the Mint, we are saddled with "earning" ours.  Deficit spending lands us in debtor's hell.  As my Ol' Pappy told me, "If your expenses exceed your income, your assets in jail!"  There endeth the lesson.  Later--HUBBARD
