Mustang Seat on 2008 SERK
« on: July 18, 2011, 04:55:22 PM »

Thinking of the one-piece touring seat (mustang #76033) for my FLHRSE4.  Anyone have experience with this seat?

I have their Solo Seat heated and covered in alligator and the passengen pillion for sale if intrested...  Its been up on the board before,  but it will only fit a 2008 SERK w/o modification.  If you do go with another mustang,  make sure it will fit the 08 SERK.  For whatever reason,  there is something in our frame that all other seats wont fit from Corbin.  They use a different mounting method than harley,  thats why all of the HD seats will fit...

I choose to go one-up with the Corbin (08' FLHRSE4) vs Mustang and as shown, had it (and my bag set) recovered in hand-tooled leather and nile crocodile. The seat bottom was also cupped with gel comfort pads installed when the work (recover) was done. Workmanship compliments of Roberti Customs, Montgomery, TX (ships world-wide). I purchased the seat from Corbin and had it dropped shipped to Roberti. Note: work shown was done in absence of the MC being present, he's that good!

I got close to 15k miles on this set-up and have found the seat to be ultra-comfortable, good for distant rides, great at holding its memory (or better, foam/gel keeps its fullness well). What you can't see is the perforations incorporated into the base seams and pan of the seat which enable quick memory recovery.

For me, a custom seat is the only way to go go go....one that your upholsterer' fits/cups to fit your particular seating pattern (Butt!)

note: also replaced OEM 2-up with another Corbin, had it equally cupped/padded (for both rider and pax), recovered in all Nile Croc to match bag works, include both rider backrest and pax backrest. Even have an optional, larger backrest covered which I/we use for long tour rides . Interchangeability is not an issue....takes a few minutes, but again...no big deal...I like the diversity of being able to swap between seat configs and the end result (looks)

I currently have a solo mustang for my 2008. I also purchased a detachable back seat for passengers. My old lady has a more comfortable ride than I do on short or long distance rides. The seat looks really good but the butt and wallet paid the price...

I called Mustang this morning and they said the one-piece will fit.  They said they get a lot of questions about CVO bikes.  I will let you know when it arrives from Dennis Kirk
