Is this the 1st time MoCo has offered a former CVO color (tequila sunrise orange 2010 SE Street Glide) and NOW it's offered on the 2012 Street Glide (Non CVO), with a different second color ...(HD Orange).

Bummer for the 2010 SE 110 Street Glide owners ...

Not sure what the problem is on the website but when I try to look at the 2011 SESG's, it shifts over to the 2012's. Didn't check the rest but it's the same with the SEEG. Might be intended that way or could be a programming error.

Just to echo your point, I have only seen one or two posts since the release yesterday from folks who were moved enough by these bikes that they are heading out to the dealer to put down a deposit.  And considering this is a site with a few thousand CVO junkies for members, thats not a good percentage.  I'm sure lots of people are reserving judgement until they see the bikes in person, but I still think it shows a real lack ingenuity and creativity that they can't drive more interest on the new models.  Perhaps it starts with the fact that they have done the same 4 models for 3 years in a row now.  No imagination there. :soapbox:

The Road Glide CVO's have changed, you had the 09, then none for 2010, then a Road Glide Ultra for 11 and now for 12 a regular road glide.

I like the colors on the CVO roadglide and like it much better than the Ultra version.  I am thinking of Trading my Silver/Black 09 CVO road glide for it.  I'm just not sure I like the Skulls and the black Handlebars and switch housings.

I also wonder if something more might be done for 2013.

Not sure which way to go, I figure if I wait they will not do the CVO road glide in 13.  If I do not wait and get one this year, 13 will go back to the eagle on the fairing and will get a 120 motor.

They used "Electric Orange" back in '06 on the SEUC as well, only with "Black Ice" that time... Looks the same this year though, black is black!  Although the paint scheme is quite different.

I have been considering upgrading my Fat Boy for a Street Glide for a couple years.  I liked the 2010 blue SG, but there was just not enough change to make me pull the trigger.  But then I saw the 2011 SGs and decided it was time and made the deal for a black one.  Dealer however could not come through with the bike in that color.  So I am now waiting to see if they can come through with the 2012 slate/black SG.  Same deal and 1st on the list, but they do not know if they are getting one.  Small dealership, unfortunately for me, so limited on what they get sent to them.  :(

I am glad now I did not get a 2011 as I like the 2012 slate/black even better.  But I too kept wondering if I should wait and see what next year will bring back when I pulled the trigger on the 2011.  Really no way to know what might change or if they will even offer the model the following year in a CVO.  So for me, I think it is better to get one you like now and not worry about if there will be one you like better next year.  With that said that will mean they are sure to come out with a 120 motor next year, and knowing my luck will also have another CVO SG.  ;)

That regular model street glide with the tequila sunrise is butt ugly.  JMHO  :nixweiss:

But to answer your question, no, it's not the first time they've used original CVO colors on a standard model.  The 04 SEEG was Cobalt Blue and Starlight Black however, just a couple of years ago you could get a cobalt blue street glide.  I think it was available for a couple of years.

So, what happened to the idea that four (or at least three) new models were picked for the CVOs?  So, there is one model from the Softail line and three from touring...  No Dynas?  What about a CVO Trike?  Or a CVO Softail Deluxe?  Or even a CVO Sportster?  I know H-D trades on tradition, but the same four models three years in a row?  No imagination.  Hard to get excited for a new model year when all they do is change the paint jobs and add a feature here and there.  ZZZzzzzzzz.......

Well, 2013 is an anniversary year...110th...if history repeats itself, Harley doesn't usuall do anything major in terms of engine size on anniversary years except add some different paint, slap on some anniversary badges on some or all bikes (like the 2003 models) and focus on the anniversary party, the anniversary ride, concerts etc.. I think the anniversary bikes usually sell themselves without Harley doing anything dramatic.

I think 2014 will be the big year (after the "hangover" of the 2013 anniversary party) to entice people back into the show rooms to buy/"trade up" and I think you will see a water cooled Harley bagger then before the 120 motor.

But hey, my name is not Wilie G so who knows??!! ;D

Seven years in a row for the SEUC.  :o

I was surprised when they came back in '09 because usually they go for 2 or 3 years and then change it up a bit.

When they introduced the Limited I figured for sure that would be the year with no SEUC, but that still didn't happen.
Now it looks like they maybe doing a run of a number of years with the SESG due to their popularity not unlike the SEUC enjoyed, which does make some sense.

However, if they broke the chain for a couple of years, the demand should skyrocket when they finally bring the model back into the CVO fold and they won't be able to keep them in the showrooms.  As we all know over the last couple of years some dealers have had difficulty moving the SEUC's... I'm sure there are still brand new 2010's out there to be had.  Many I'm sure will say it's due to the economy and of course that has played a roll, but doesn't that alone give them a good reason for them to cool their jets on producing so many expensive models until things get better?

Not to mention that they are flooding the market with the CVO line which has definitely made our pride & joy not so rare anymore and therefore has driven down the resale value.

They are getting real close to killing the goose!  Just IMHO.

Okay, I feel a little better now... Just had to vent a bit.  ::)

http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/harley-davidson/2012-harley-davidson-cvo-models-review-91086.html

For example, a standard model 2012 Street Glide retails for $19,499, and now comes with the Twin Cam 103 engine. The 2012 CVO Street Glide, powered by a Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110, retails for $32,699 – a $13,200 premium over the standard SG. Thirteen big ones is a chunk by just about any measure, but consider for a minute that a Screamin’ Eagle 110 engine upgrade from Harley retails for approximately $5200, and a color upgrade for the standard ’Glide from Harley’s HD1 Customization is another $5300.

So straightaway we have to spend $10,500 just to begin turning a vanilla SG into something of a CVO. But remember that the CVO paint is exclusive to CVO, and done primarily by hand, so obtaining equivalent custom paint would easily push past $5300.

Factor in the CVO Street Glide’s premium sound system with six very loud speakers, up-spec chrome wheels with style-matching brake rotors, custom-style seat with unique stitching, an entire package of stylish chrome accented components, ABS as standard, security system with alarm, and the CVO’s additional $13Gs starts looking a like deal if you’re hot for a top-shelf Harley.

None of us knows . . . we can only dream . . . but the 03 100th Anniversary SERK got the 103 engine, gold leaf badging, and a mini-tach on a Road King . . . we can dream for about a year now for another engine leap on an anniversary SERK . . . since there has not been a SERK CVO since 2008 . . . but with another anniversary  engine upgrade like in 03 . . . a 120 cubes in a 2013 110th anniversary SERK maybe?!?!  :huepfenjump3:

Oh yeah, how does that old song go?  "I like dreamin', because dreamin' can make you mine! . . . "
