That may be true for most bikes, but being we are talking about CVOs which are a limited run and cannot be ordered that is not really the case. If you read the fine print on the back of the contract it says the dealer is only under obligation to honor the contract if they can acquire the bike from the manufacturer. If they cannot, they can at their discretion, offer to honor the contract with the following model year for the difference in list price if applicable. And in the case of the CVOs, if they offer the same model the following year.
My dealer is doing just that for me. I had a contract for a 2011 black/crimson SG and they were unable to find me one. So when I found out they were coming out with them again in 2012 I asked if they would honor the deal for a 2012 and they said they would. So they are now trying to get me a 2012 slate/black SG for the same deal + the $200 increase in list price.
When we looked yesterday morning on the dealer locater none had been delivered to VT or NH yet. Hopefully soon, and hopefully they can get one if they do not get one sent to them.
