Some members here, including myself, went the ak-20/Bitubo combo with very good results.

I use a trifecta of:

  • AK-20's as above
  • Bitubo's also thru Traxxion
  • Glide-Pro
Installed each separately in phases to compare improvement.

First installed was the 3 pc Glide-Pro set. If pressed, I would say that this component did more to improve my ride than anything else I've done. Best bang for the buck in my case. There was evidence of significant binding at the swingarm. Your mileage may vary. I also got a noticable  reduction in vibration at idle.

The results with Traxxion's upgrades were as great as reported by everyone else on here. The true benefit was in aggressive covering performance.

I had previously bought used Progressive 440's on E-bay, I tried both heavy and standard springs. I was disappointed. Now I realize I was bottoming out even wit pre-load jacked up.

If interested I would contact Traxxion for product questions. But I believe the short answer to be yes.

Guess it come down to individual riding style and preference.
I have the Traxxion AK-20 on the front and 12" Progressive 440's on the rear with a Pheonix Customs Bagger Brace.

I ride a lot two up - bike has great stability and control, irrespective of bends/road-surface.

I have a 08 SERK.  Does the SE3 have the leather bags or hard?  The BiTubo's will not fit with the leather bags (I tried)

I ended up going with Ohlins in the rear and Progressive Monotube's in the front.  I felt the Ohlins were a better choice as they are serviceable anywhere,  and in my opinion provide a better ride.  They are also quite a bit easier to setup.  There is a local race bike shop here that dials in suspensions for $40,  and it was a waste because they came from Howard (the best HD Distrib for Ohlins) perfectly set.  He has a whole order form w/ height etc..

The monotubes were a easy choice.  Any mechanic can put them in with 2hrs labor,  they are warrantied for life and they handle so much better.  The customer service has been great, as I blew a seal and they sent out a replacement asap.

Of course this is all my opinion.  I ride the bike very hard and worry more about grinding off my floorboards then the bike not being able to handle it.  They also give a much nicer ride on the road as well.  I have 2 settings for the Ohlins for track or 2up road and they are easy to change.    I cant compare to the BiTubo's as they wouldnt fit,  as I had the leather bags.

All I can say is I get some weird looks on the local tracks with my bags and windshield off going around the turns  :bananarock: :bananarock:

Ah,

I just saw your avatar with the pic of your bike in it.  The BiTubo's will NOT fit.  There is only a single cutout on the back of the leather bags that will only fit a single shock,  and the BiTubo's have a small reservoir canister.  Talk to the owner @ Traxxion.  I ordered them and they wouldnt believe they didnt fit.  I sent a ton of pictures and they agreed

Scott

btw,  the progressives are under $270 if you shop for them,  compared to $1100

Won't fit Leather bags = Urban Legend
:apple::cucumber::pineapple:
They are on my 2007 and fit perfectly. They are mounted on numerous other FLHRSE3's on this site as well.

No modification, no spacers, nothing. Bolt them on, ride, never look back.

Mine are mounted with the gas reservoir on the bottom. Some on this site have refered to that as upside-down.

The Bitubo's can be mounted in any position, there is no top or bottom. Mounted with the reservoir on bottom the labels and printing on the shock are poisitioned with the letters upright and readable though. The fit is not even close or tight in any way, shape or form

Well the will not fit on a SE4.  No way no how.  Traxxion verified it.  Why go thru all that hassle of rigging it.  Dont know if the SE4 and SE3 are different,  but i will but a benjamin on it.

Again,  why buy a shock that only has one US distributor and can be serviced in only one place...  I have nothing against Traxxion and i like Dan,  but why?

Progressive Monotubes up front, Progressive 940s in the rear.  I ride equal 2 up or 1 up and have an aggressive riding style when it comes to the twisty's.  Love the combo, smooth ride, excellent bottoming control, reduced front end dive and great price (under $750.00 combined).

I had the Bagger Brace on my 07. Made a real differance to stiffen up the chassis.
