One crazy bastard is responsible for more than 92 people so far. 7 in the bomb attack downtown and singlehanded, dressed as a policeman, shot 85 young people on an island shortly after the bomb exploded. May he rot in hell.

Not really that surprised by this attack with how many group's ideals are out there that teach people to hate a differing group's ideals. It's a small line between hating the ideals and hating the people that have them. (The crazies can't distinguish this.)

This guy sounds like he's another radical Idealist like the Mall shooter in Arizona. (They say like  Timothy McVeigh) I'm surprised these domesticated attacks aren't happening more in the U.S. with all the hated political rhetoric we continue to see in the sensationalized news.

People need to wake up and understand that democracies are based off of people having different ideals. Sometimes your ideals are in the majority sometimes they are not.

Just another copy-cat killing that sucks for all of us.

I can just not understand how someone could do that.  I've read about his reasoning, but these were just totally innocent people out having an enjoyable camping trip.

Frankly, he is one sick basterd who richly deserves to rot in hell - hopefully in a very painful way.

My heart goes out to everyone from that lovely, normally very peaceful country.

They probably have laws against owning/carrying firearms.  Sad, but true that this can happen anywhere in this world and esp. where law-abiding citizens are prohibited from being able to protect against this kind of insanity.  spyder

News is saying that he published a 1500 page manifesto just before he did it... lot of similarities here to Timothy Mcveigh.

I have friends from there in the police service... they didn't have anyone armed on the Island because they didn't need to, Oslo is was a very peaceful place.

Tragic, senseless and a crime against all humanity.

Too bad justice and punishment against him can't equal the crime.

Someone like him, after whatever trial and conviction, should be made to suffer each and every minute of his remaining life.

In Norway it is very hard for a citizen to own a firearm.  And very illegal to carry a loaded firearm.

WAS a very peaceful place.  There's always the possibility of the 'outlier'.    spyder

This kind of thing is sickening...this is an individual who does not need to be on the planet any longer, nor contribute to the gene pool.

The sad part about these kind of acts is that there is really not a hell of a lot you can do to stop it.  A lone assailant, with tremendous firepower, can do an awful amount of damage before he/she is stopped.  Just look at the Gabriel Giffords situation for another example of some extremeist, acting alone, filled with hate for this or that reason.  And I'm pretty sure I know you can carry firearms in Arizona with relative impunity, and can carry concealed with a permit.  That fact did not deter that individual. When you get some nutcase like this taking action, it all happens so fast, a lot of the damage is done before people know what's happening, or can react.

Unfortunately, I don't see this kind of random act stopping any time soon.
