Test Rode a Road Glide Yesterday...Hmmmmm
« on: July 24, 2011, 08:48:57 AM »

Test rode a Road Glide Ultra yesterday. I've had Electra Glides for 3 years now...and I know there are all kinds of opinions...but the frame mounted fairing makes a big difference in how that bike steers. My brother-in-law noticed the same thing.

It may be a good thing for me that H-D does not have a Road Glide Ultra in the CVO lineup this year....... ;D

Rode CVO Ultra Classics and Ultra's for years.  Purchased the CVO Ultra Road Glide in April.  Yes, the bike steers better.  The Ultra Classic's heavy feeling front end (although the bike is basically the same weight) is from moving all the stuff connected to the Bat Wing where as the Shark on the RG feels much lighter.  Also, cross winds do not bother the RG near as much.  I love the bike.  The bike also, seems to cut the wind easier and protects the rider from the wind and rain much better.

That said, the Bat Wing allows for more cooling wind from the design.  The RG rider gets less wind compared to the Ultra Classic and thus is hotter down here on South Texas.

Love the bike.

P.S. - Did have to put a 15" Cee Bailey's windshield to be happy.

My thoughts exactly on comparison of Electra Glide and Road Glide. To me the RG shark fairing
is a more comfortable ride after test riding a couple of them. Road Glide will be my next Harley.

Harley Davidson of Washington D.C. has two gold/white SEURGs, Richmond HD North and South have 1 Grey/Black SEURG each, and Waugh HD in Orange, VA, has a grey/black SEURG left.  I'm sure they'll all deal...

Even if they had come out with a 2012 SERGU, the only changes would likely have been paint/graphics.  The '11 has pretty much got it all if you like the colors.  Coming off a Batwing myself, I LOVE the RG.  It feels like a completely different bike.  I got to test drive a 2011 RG Ultra Limited the same day I bought the SERGU.  I was sold on the RG 1 block down the road.  For me, it is the ultimate touring HD.

The Grey RG's are faster.  They are harder to see than the Red.  BTW, the red is the best red HD has ever had.

So you're sayin' that the Slate RG's are the "stealth fighters"?   :huepfenlol2:  My '06 SEUC was the Black Candy/Slate color...loved that bike.  They didn't have a red bike that year that I was interested in.

I have always been partial to Red/burgandy/maroon colored vehicles of any description.  When I saw this Red, and it was an RGU, I couldn't resist...it really pops in the sun.

I like the Rio Red/Black Ember on the RG ALMOST as much as the Typhoon Maroon/Ruby Red on my present bike.

So far the dealer is not budging from MSRP on this bike. We shall see. Stay tuned............. :-\
