Hard wiring GPS
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:03:59 AM »

Options for hard wiring GPS;

1. Headlight or back of cigarette lighter ?
2. Acc switch ? do you have to go to plug under seat or is there a plug behind the inner fairing ?

Suppose the advantage of using Acc switch is you can power up GPS when you want, where as the other method means it will power up every time ign is turned on.

I did mine to the cig lighter. It was easy to get to and I never use the lighter anyway.

No plug inside the fairing, but you can tie into the wires for the ACC switch inside the fairing.

If I remember correctly, there is a open plug to the head light that I used.

I power both my Garmin and radar detector thru the ACC switch, accessing the power via the plug under the seat.  I can still turn the devices on/off thru their individual component power switches, if desired.

I use the accessory switch. This way I can run the battery all the way down and the flip the switch to start recharging.

I use the fender tip lamp connector by the headlight.
