2010 FLHTCUSE5 (Black) Seat
« on: July 27, 2011, 12:10:31 PM »

The 2010.5 "Black" CVO is our "personal" bike.  My wife and I went on vacation recently and rented a stock Ultra.  BOTH of us thought the seat on the stock Ultra was more comfortable than ours  :nixweiss:.  May be the heated seat on the CVO makes it less comfortable?

We both agree that we are ready to give up the heat (bike gives off plenty!!!) for the comfort of a different seat.  Anyone else change out and, if so, what did you get?

I don't know if your 2010.5 has the same heated seat as the 2011 heated "hamock" style seat, but so far, I've found the 2011 seat comfortable.  The same style seat comes on both the 2011 SEUC and the SERGU.

If I were replacing my seat today, I'd get the Dual Tour Corbin w/heat and driver's backrest.  Corbin seats are firm, but firm is good for long hauls.  Plus, it's leather on the seating surfaces, so breathes better.  I personally would not by another HD seat if I were not happy with the stocker.

I installed a heated Corbin and love it. Have a Corbin on both my bikes.

That part number is the Sun Ray Heated Seat from HD.

If you haven't ridden in cold/cooler weather yet, you can't appreciate the heat in the seat...it's nice.

My opinion...before I paid over 700 bucks for a HD seat, I'd put the money into a Corbin.  You might take a look at Mustang seats too...they now offer one with heat.

OR...you can take a look at Mean City Cycles  They do mods on your stock seat...I haven't tried them personally, but have heard/read good things.  http://www.meancitycycles.com/

Mean city cycles won't work on the Hammocks, is what they told me when i contacted them back first of the year. but give them a call and see if that has changed.

I am happy with my stock 08 CVO heated seat, I have been struggling with a seat for sometime now. I have an 09 ultra, bought a 2010 stk ultra seat because It lowered me to be Able to put both feet firmly on the ground. It didn't work for me, I kept reading on the site about the 08 stk seat was the most comfortable out of all the CVO stk seat for the yrs 08 and earlier, so I kept looking on Ebay and found one. I use it as a beater seat and put my 09 seat away.

It works for me, others my feel differant  :nixweiss:

I also purchased the 08 CVO seat and put it on my FLHTCUSE4.  Very comfortable.  I have no complaints.  I now feel like I am part of the bike instead of sitting on top of it.

X2   Corbin or Mustang
Hate to turn a HD seat over and see it stapled together.   No Harley seat worth over $300 once you see how they are made compared to the competition.

Thanks for all the opinions.  Went to the dealer tonight to check out an HD Sundowner that came in yesterday.  Didn't care for it and ended up ordering the stock Ultra seat.  Should be in next week.  We'll give it a go.
