          Mark was kind enough to suggest a ride this past Sunday.  He was also kind enough to take my suggestion that we stop at Orange County Harley Davidson where HD was showing off the 2012's with free demo rides.   Tremendous inventory at this relatively new dealership.  Joan & I met up with Mark and his friend John (riding a Winnebago / Goldwing) at 9:00 just off the 405 at Manchester.  It was about a 40 mile sprint down the 405. 

          Not hard to see Mark is enjoying his new ride!

          Not all the new CVO's were there.  The CVO Road Glide Custom certainly got the most attention, though.

Joan seemed to like the 2012 Switchback.  It was a nice bike with a 103" motor.

         From the dealership, we headed south on the 5 to the Ortega Highway / 74 and met up with Josh, another of Mark's friends.  What can I say?  Mark's got friends.   ;D   ;D  Soon it was time for some better roads and sights.

          Ortega is a great road but busy.  It has a reputation for being dangerous but it is beautiful!

        Got pretty warm as we approached the top and warmer as we headed toward Lake Elsinore on the east side.  The descent to the Lake is spectacular!  So much so that Joan stopped taking pictures.

          At the bottom of the 74, we headed south on Grand Ave. through Lakeland Village and Wildomar.  Did not get the chance to see Grandpa Doc.   :(   After passing through Wildomar, the ride really got interesting.  It's about 40 miles to Fallbrook.  We headed west on Clinton Keith Rd. toward Sylvan Meadows. This turns into Tenaja Rd. and eventually, Via Volcano and finally, Los Gatos Rd.  At the Santa Margarita Groves we turned East on Carancho Rd. and then West on De Luz Rd.   About 20 miles later we ended up in the town of Fallbrook, where De Luz turns into S. Mission Rd. 

          In Fallbrook, we lunched at El Jardin Mexican Restaurant, 1581 South Mission Road.  Excellent!  After that we continued South on S. Mission / S-13 to the 78 West through Bonsall and eventually back to the 5 North and toward home.

          Of course we hit some major traffic due to an accident.  (Hey, this IS So. Cal.)  Joan and I headed into Laguna to stretch our legs and cool off.
